Day 1a of the 2nd annual $10,000 buy-in, $10 million GTD Wynn Millions Main Event as part of 2022 Wynn Millions at Wynn Las Vegas wrapped up late Thursday evening with France's Johan Guilbert leading 53 players with a massive stack of 624,000.

The first of three starting flights in the Main Event attracted a total of 199 runners and lasted for ten hours as many of the best players in the world battled it out on the blue felt in the luxurious Wynn tournament area.

Guilbert, who has $3.6 million in tournament earnings, per The Hendon Mob, is on a heater that included a second-place finish in the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) Main Event last December for $892,811.

Just weeks ago, the French pro was honored at the Global Poker Awards in Las Vegas as he received the GPI Breakout Player of the Year award.

Some notable players who survived the first starting flight include Ali Imsirovic (258,066), Sam Soverel (325,500), Jason Koon (143,000,) Kristen Bicknell (111,500), Sofia Lovgren (280,000), Adam Hendrix (51,000), Kitty Kuo (135,000), Dan Smith (184,000), Dylan Linde (78,500), Sylvain Loosli (322,500) and James Romero (200,000).

Daniel Negreanu was also in the field he took down a $15,300 High Roller across the room last night room for $216,000 as part of the Wynn High Roller Series. “Kid Poker,” who finished the high roller at 3 a.m., late-registered the Main Event and ended the day with a stack of 215,500.

Players who weren’t lucky enough to make it to the end of the day include Alex Foxen, Dylan Weisman, Lanton Tice, Dan Shak and Jake Schindler.

Players who bagged on Day 1a will return on March 6 at noon for Day 2ab, which will see them compete against the first two starting flights.

The second starting flight of the nine-day tournament will pick up on March 4 at noon. Like the first flight, Day 1b is expected to attract some of the best and biggest in the game.

PokerNews will be back tomorrow to bring you updates of the Wynn Millions Main Event Day 1b action, so stay tuned.

Remember, there are still three PokerGO Tour High Rollers taking place here at the Wynn Millions, all of which count for the 2022 PGT Leaderboard. There will be $10,500 buy-in High Rollers on both March 6 & 7, as well as a $15,700 High Roller on March 8. Click here to see the current PokerGO Tour Leaderboard.

Guilbert Bluffs With Best Hand and Gets Called

Nível 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Johan Guilbert
Johan Guilbert

Johan Guilbert opened to 4,000 in early position, a middle position player called, and the small blind called.

The flop fell {k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. The small blind checked, Guilbert bet 8,500, and the middle position player raised to 22,000. The small blind folded and Guilbert called.

The {4-Diamonds} landed on the turn and Guilbert check-called for 27,000.

The {7-Diamonds} completed the board and Guilbert jammed. His opponent went deep into the tank and after a couple of minutes, called for his stack of approximately 78,000.

Guilbert revealed {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}.

"No way," his opponent said, seemingly perplexed.

"I was bluffing," Guilbert said. "Fives?"

His opponent's hand was shown to be {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} indeed, and the French vlogger took the pot and added the chips to his stack.

Soverel Flops Quads and Busts Opponent

Nível 9 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

With roughly 50,000 in the pot on a {k-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} completed board, Sam Soverel bet approximately 55,000, Kitty Kuo folded, and another player went into the tank and called for the rest of their 45,000 or so chips.

Soverel tabled {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for quad fives and scooped the pot as his opponent hit the rail.
