Froehlich Eliminates Chan

Nível 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Johnny Chan
Johnny Chan

Action for an all in and a call were announced on a flop of {2-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Johnny Chan was all in with {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} from early position versus the {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} of big blind Eric Froehlich.

Though Chan had a pair of eights, Froehlich had eight outs to a flush and three more to a straight. He filled up on both of them when the turn and river fell {k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, locking in the win for "EFro" by the turn as Chan's Main Event bid was terminated right before the dinner break.

Cunningham Eliminated by Sammartino

Nível 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Allen Cunningham
Allen Cunningham

First to act, Allen Cunningham moved all in for the last 164,000 on the main feature table and Dario Sammartino called from one seat over.

Allen Cunningham: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Dario Sammartino: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

It was a flip for Cunningham and Sammartino took the lead on the {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop. Nothing changed with the {3-Clubs} turn and the {j-Clubs} river, and that sent Cunningham to the rail. There are now four players with near identical stacks on the main feature table and Sammartino is one of them.

Minkin Sent to the Payout Desk

Nível 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Kelly Minkin
Kelly Minkin

Adedapo Ajayi raised from middle position to 27,000 and the action folded around to Kelly Minkin in the big blind who shoved all in for 229,000. Ajayi went in the tank for a while before slamming a stack down to call.

Adedapo Ajayi: {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Kelly Minkin: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Minkin was the favorite preflop and the flop came {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{j-Hearts} giving her a pair and a gutshot straight draw, but Ajayi still had many outs with a flush and straight draw. The turn sealed her fate as the {3-Hearts} landed and the {9-Diamonds} on the river was just a formality.

Chris Moneymaker

There are 38:28 remaining in Level 18 with blinds of 6,000/12,000 and a 12,000 big blind ante, and the players have been sent on a 20-minute break. Around 610 hopefuls remain and will return to their seats to play until 7.30 p.m. local time, with the 90-minute dinner break scheduled to take place then.

Here’s a look at some recent highlights from the tables:

Qui Nguyen
Qui Nguyen

The flop read {j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and Qui Nguyen checked in the small blind, as did the player in the big blind. The player in the under-the-gun position shoved for 131,000 in total. The player in the late position quickly folded, Nguyen called, and the big blind got out their way too.

Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Qui Nguyen:{4-Spades}{4-Hearts}

Nguyen had flopped a set while his opponent hit top pair.

The rest of the board was completed with the {8-Spades} on the turn and the {k-Hearts} on the river to not provide any danger to Nguyen as he adds some more chips to his stack.

Michael Lech
Michael Lech

A player raised in middle position to 30,000 and Michael Lech moved all-in in the cutoff, the action folded back around to the original raiser who asked for a count. After finding out it was 272,000 they made the call.

Michael Lech: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Opponent: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}

Lech had him dominated and he avoided a seven when the board ran out {k-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}{j-Clubs} giving him the double up.

Guay Doubles Through Hunichen in Largest Pot of the Main Event

Nível 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
David Guay
David Guay

(Hand details relayed to PokerNews)

A player in middle position raised to 25,000, Chris Hunichen three-bet to 88,000 from the next seat over, David Guay four-bet to 240,000 from the small blind, the initial raiser folded and Hunichen called.

They checked to the turn of a {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs} board where Guay bet 330,000. Hunichen called.

The river was the {6-Clubs}, Guay shoved for 664,000 and Hunichen went into the tank for a while.

"So sick," said Hunichen. "Feels like you have queens."

Eventually, Guay called the clock and Hunichen called as time was expiring.

Guay tabled {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a set of tens, besting Hunichen's {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} to win what is the biggest pot of the Main Event to this point.

Moneymaker Won't Be Winning Another Main Event

Nível 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

Chris Moneymaker's first Main Event cash since winning it in 2003 won't be anywhere close to what he might have been hoping for at the start of the day. Moneymaker was seen shaking hands at his table, with the ESPN camera crew also swarming the table at the same time. Unfortunately for Moneymaker, he fell at the hand of Ron West who was kind enough to relay what had happened:

Moneymaker had raised from the middle position with {q-}{j-} and West called on the button with {10-}{10-}.

The flop came {k-}{10-}{3-} with two clubs, Moneymaker check-shoved for around 250,000 when West had continued with a bet of 37,000 and West called.

No further help came on the board for Moneymaker and the former Champion was sent to the payout desk.
