Super High Roller Gets Underway at 1pm; Late Registration Open for Two More Hours

Super High Roller TV Table
Super High Roller TV Table

It's a case of one down, two to go as we enter Day 2 of Event #9: €100,000 Super High Roller with Timothy Adams in the chip lead.

It was touch and go last night whether Adams would be pipped by German Dominik Nitsche. Adams had held the chip lead throughout the day, but a flurry of activity for Nitsche in the last level actually put him in the chip lead.

However, in the very last hand of the day, Steve O'Dwyer doubled through Nitsche, and the chip-lead pendulum swung back in the Canadian's favour.

As well as Adams, Nitsche and O'Dwyer, several other players including Adrian Mateos, Tobias Ziegler and Stefan Schillhabel are well-placed. 2018 WSOPE bracelet winner Michael Addamo is also in the top 10 chip counts with 33 players remaining.

However, with late registration open for the first two levels of the day, we expect to see some frantic action early on as players race to avoid having to potentially fire another bullet in the second-biggest buy-in event ever held at a World Series of Poker Europe.

Play resumes at 1pm, with the schedule for the day to play down to a final table of eight. There will be 15-minute breaks after every two levels, and a 60-minute dinner break after level 16 (~19:30).

On a {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop and with around 1.6m in the pot already, Aymon Hata bet 900,000 and Vladimir Troyanovskiy tanked before moving all in for 3.7m.

Hata thought briefly before calling.

Aymon Hata: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Vladimir Troyanovskiy: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Troyanovskiy noisily got to his feet, but only in time to see the {j-Spades} roll off on the turn, and the {k-Spades} sealed his double up, leaving Hata with around 11 big blinds.

The turn was the {A-Hearts} and the river the {9-Diamonds} and Holz was eliminated from the tournament. Late registration is now closed in the tournament and the young German can't reenter anymore.

Mateos Caught Bluffing in Big Pot

Nível 14 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

Adrian Mateos limped the button and Martin Kabrhel checked his option to the {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop. Mateos min-bet and Kabrhel called.

After the {A-Hearts} turn, Kabrhel checked once more and Mateos now over-bet for 1,150,000, which Kabrhel called after some consideration.

On the {2-Clubs} river, Kabrhel checked and Mateos moved all in for more than 4 million.

"Adrian, I think it is a bluff, but hippo tells me it's a full house," Kabrhel said after he had grabbed his card protector. Another minute passed and one of the players at the table called the clock on Kabrhel, who immediately pointed out that "it hasn't been enough time."

Eventually, Kabrhel called all in for 3,710,000 and Mateos rolled over the {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a bluff. Kabrhel doubled with {A-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for trips aces and Mateos was left with fewer than three big blinds.

On the {4-Spades} turn, Vieira checked once more and Peters bet 850,000 to pick up a call from the Portuguese.

Vieira rivered the flush with the {2-Spades} and checked to Peters, who bet 4 million and was snap-called by Vieira.

Paul Phua

Feature Table

Paul Phua raised to 375,000 on the button with the {A-Spades}{10-Spades} and Dominik Nitsche called in the big blind with the {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. The {J-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop gave Nitsche a flushdraw and he checked, Phua continued for 400,000 with around 2,600,000 behind. Nitsche called and the {A-Hearts} followed on the turn to give Phua top pair.

Nitsche checked once more and Phua fired a second barrel for 800,000, which resulted in the check-shove of Nitsche with his flushdraw and gutshot straight draw. Phua called it off and the {K-Diamonds} river improved Nitsche to a winning flush.

Badziakouski Triples Up

Nível 14 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Mikita Badziakouski

Timothy Adams opened to 475,000 from the button and Orpen Kisacikoglu three-bet to 1,730,000 from the small blind.

Mikita Badziakouski then moved all in from the big blind for 1,250,000. Adams called. "It's a magic trick!" said Badziakouski as the three players went to a flop.

The flop was {9-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and the two active players checked. The turn was the {10-Spades}. Kisacikoglu bet 700,000 and Adams folded.

"Show the bluff!" said Badziakouski and Kisacikoglu nodded, much to Adams' chagrin.

Mikita Badziakouski: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Orpen Kisacikoglu: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

The river was the {7-Clubs} and Badziakouski - who had been standing up, bag in hand for most of the hand - tripled up.

"It's just a miracle," said Badziakouski.

"That's why you are winning all tournaments," murmured tablemate Vladimir Troyanovskiy.
