Time for Dinner

Nível 11 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

The 18 remaining players here in the GDAM Main Event have been sent on a 90-minute dinner break. PokerStars Team Online Isaac Haxton is still the chip leader, while we will update all the chip counts as soon as possible.

Rossiter Sends Gus Home

Nível 11 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

Over here in the main tournament area we just heard that Gus Hansen has been eliminated at the hands of Aussie Jeff Rossiter over on the feature live streaming table.

Hansen was all in preflop for his last 2 million or so and held {a-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Rossiter had Hansen well covered and held {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. The {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs} board wasn't what Hansen needed and so was sent home in a meaningless 19th place.

We are now down to just 18 players with a couple of minutes remaining before the dinner break.

JC Alvardo Latest One Home

Nível 11 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante
JC Alvarado - eliminated
JC Alvarado - eliminated

It took two hands to eliminate JC Alvarado. Firstly Alvarado rumbled with Anthony Gregg. It was all in preflop, with Alvarado having Gregg covered by around 100,000. Gregg held {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and was going up against Alvarado's {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}. The board ran out {2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Alvardo was left crippled, while Gregg had doubled up to around 4 million.

Just a few moments later and Alvardo was all in for his last few chips holding {q-Clubs}{7-Spades} against Anson Tsang's {a-Spades}{9-Spades}. Despite hitting a pair on the turn of a {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} board, the {a-Hearts} river would give Tsang a larger pair than Alvarado as the Mexican poker pro was sent home just a table or so short of making the money.

There are now 19 players remaining.

World Champ No More

Nível 11 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante
Greg Merson - Eliminated
Greg Merson - Eliminated

The reigning WSOP Main Event champion has just been eliminated late here on Day 2 of the GDAM Main Event. Merson's final hand behan when Igor Kurganov opened the hijack to 400,000. Merson called out of the big blind and the dealer flipped over a {q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{j-Hearts} flop.

Merson checked here and Kurganov led for 500,000. Back on Merson and he went deep into the tank before announcing an all in. It was around 4 million to call, which Kurganov did quick smart, prompting the two players to turn their hands over.

Merson: {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Kurganov: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Merson got out of his seat at the sight of Kurganov's superior hand and then made his way out of the tournament area when a {10-Clubs} turn and a {5-Clubs} river completed the board. Kurganov was down to under 2 million not too long ago, but is now near the top of the chip leader board with an eight-figure chip stack.

Timex Sent Packing

Nível 11 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante
Mike McDonald - Eliminated
Mike McDonald - Eliminated

Mike McDonald is no longer with us here on Day 2 of the GDAM Main Event, with all of his chips going in the direction of Germany's Igor Kurganov. Apparently McDonald had his relative short stack all in preflop holding {6-}{6-} and ran into Kurganov's {k-}{k-}. No help came for McDonald and it was time for "Timex" to find the rail.

Lim Gone, Play Slowing

Nível 11 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

We have just been told that Australia's Aaron Lim has been eliminated at the hands of Pratyush Buddiga over on the feature table. The somewhat short-stacked Lim was all in preflop holding {k-}{q-} and Buddiga held {10-}{8-}. The board ran out {2-}{a-}{6-}{a-}{10-} and Buddiga sent Lim to the rail.

Despite the relatively shallow chip stacks, over here in the main tournament area the play has seemed to slow down. The most exciting hand that we have managed to witness was when JC Alvarado three-bet all in from the big blind after Sorel Mizzi opened it up with a min raise from early position. Mizzi tanked and eventually folded and that was that.
