Keep Those Bustouts Coming

Nível 9 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

The eliminations continue to fly fast during this second level of play. The most recent players to find the rail were Chunlei Zhou, Di Dang and Tom Hall. There are currently 36 players remaining.

Massive Pot for Powell Sends Yu Home

Nível 9 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

Winfred Yu has had plenty of success at the felt this year, finishing 3rd in the recent WSOP APAC Main Event. Unfortunately he wont be adding another result here in the GDAM Main Event as we have just watched him hit the rail.

By the time we arrived at the action we found Yu all-in preflop and Devan Tang and Brian Powell still involved in the hand on a {j-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop. Powell had jammed here, having Tang well covered and eventually Tang folded, prompting Yu to table his at-risk hand.

Powell: {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Yu: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

The {9-Diamonds} turn was the exact opposite of what Yu was looking for and with a meaningless {8-Clubs} completing the board on the river, Yu found the rail, while Powell is no cruinging.

Counts From Table Three

Nível 9 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

Below is the approximate chip stacks of the players currently seated at Table three.

Few More Gone, Ike Building

Nível 9 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

A quick walk around the tournament floor tells us that Kejing Tang, Fabian Quoss, Ying Wu, Vladimir Troyanovskiy and Guanfei Zhu have recently been eliminated. We also noticed that Isaac Haxton is now clearly the chip leader with over 9 million in chips. There are now 41 players remaining in the GDAM Main Event.

Lessons in Running it Twice

Nível 9 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante
Joseph Cheong
Joseph Cheong

"Wait, wait, wait," said Ying Wu, dead seriously. "I wanted to run it twice."

The hand in question saw Joseph Cheong all in preflop holding {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} against the {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} of Wu. Cheong was all in for just 580,000 after losing the majority of his stack during the first level. Wu said he wanted to run it twice after the turn card had been dealt on a {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{a-Hearts} and was seriously asking Cheong if he was interested.

Before Cheong could answer, the dealer had flipped over the river and Wu was not happy. Wu even called the floor over, at which point it was explained to Wu that you can't run it twice in a tournament, only in a cash game.

Following the safe river, Cheong had doubled up to around 1 million in chips.

Three Way All-in Sees Gruissem Bust

Nível 9 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

We recently arrived at Table 3 to find three players all in preflop. We didn't see how the chips went in, but Keith Gipson was all in for 284,000 from under the gun, Philipp Gruissem was in late position and was all in for just over 1 million in chips and Greg Merson was all in from the small blind, having both his opponents well covered. Below is how the cards looked.

Merson: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Gruissem: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Gipson: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Gipson was looking good to double up and Gruissem was needing some help to stay alive. By the time the dealer spread out a {7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} board, Gipson had picked up 284,000 from both Gruissem and Merson’s stack, while Merson had taken Gruissem’s last 1 million in chips.
