Bryn Kenney Leads $50,000 Poker Players Championship After Day 2

When the elimination of Phil Hellmuth only scrapes into the top stories of Day 2 of the $50,000 Poker Players Championship, you know it was an action-packed day.
Today saw the largest PPC field since 2013 generate a prize pool of over $5.3 million, with $1,449,103 awaiting the winner. Only 41 players survived to Day 3 with just 17 players guaranteed a min-cash of $83,738.
Bryn Kenney moved atop the chip counts midway through the day, and never looked like falling too far from the peak ahead of bagging 2,064,000. He leads Michael Moncek (1,702,000), 2021 WSOP Main Event champion Koray Aldemir (1,427,000) and Brazilian Yuri Dzivielevski (1,405,000).

Day 2 Recap
A field of 81 players returned for the start of day, and would swell as players drifted in over the additional four levels of late registration on Day 2. Stephen Chidwick, Ap Garza, Brian Yoon, John Monnette, Craig Chait and Dylan Linde were all among the players who hopped in today.
Overnight chip leader Luke Schwartz continued his ascent, but it was three-time PPC champion Michael Mizrachi who was the first player over the million-chip mark after eliminating Randy Ohel with kings against Ohel's aces.

He was soon joined by Bryn Kenney, Daniel Weinman and David Williams in seven-figure stack territory, the latter of which doing so in "ugly" fashion after eliminating Yuval Bronshtein.
Then there was the arrival of Hellmuth. In two hands of seven card stud he became short, and inside of 90 minutes he was gone; busting at the hands of Benny Glaser and Dave Rogers in a hand of Omaha Hi-Lo. His time in the PPC was short but not especially tweet, exchanging barbed comments with Adam Friedman.
More players soon chipped up over a million as the field continued to shrink, but it was Bryn Kenney who never wavered during the latter stages to be the only play over two million chips with 41 players returning for Day 3.
The tournament resumes at 2 p.m. local time for six more 100-minute levels on Tuesday, June 28. Stay tuned to the PokerNews live updates for continued coverage of the Poker Players Championship.
