Spain’s Ramon Colillas leads a field of 292 heading into Day 5 of Event #67: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event Championship at the 2021 World Series of Poker. The returning players survived the 1,000 runners who were already in the money when they showed up to Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino on Day 4 of the WSOP flagship event after the bubble burst at the end of Day 3.

A field of 6,650 has generated a $62,011,250 prize pool with $8 million slated to be awarded to the winner next Wednesday. The remaining players will return for Day 5 at 12 p.m. Las Vegas time on Saturday, November 13.

Colillas went on a run in the late levels to bag the chip lead after steadily building his stack over the previous three days of the tournament. Also at the top of a crowded leaderboard are Stephen Chidwick, Stephen Song, and Fernando Rodriguez. Chidwick and Song are seeking their second WSOP gold bracelet, while Rodriguez is looking for a deep run after securing his first career live cash in this year’s Main Event.

Chris Moneymaker will return for Day 5 with 621,000 chips and an opportunity to recapture the magic he found nearly 20 years ago when he changed the poker world forever as the 2003 Main Event champion. Moneymaker came into Day 4 with one of the bigger chip stacks but spent the latter part of the evening trying to find traction on the PokerGO featured table. Qui Nguyen is the only other former WSOP Main Event champion that remains in the field.

Other players returning for Day 5 include Nick Petrangelo, David Lappin, Matt Berkey, Jason Koon, Dan Heimiller, Marle Spragg, and John Morgan.

Some notable runners that did not survive on Day 4 include Kevin Gerhart, Josh Arieh, and Jessica Cai. Cai came into Day 4 as the chip leader but didn’t survive to see Day 5 after her ace-king ran into Casey Coughlan’s pocket aces shortly after the dinner break. Gerhart flopped top pair and got it in but was stopped by Christoph Strehl’s two-pair. Arieh had a frustrating exit after he bluffed off his stack to Stephen Gerber.

Hasson Loses Flip to State

Nível 20 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Gary Hasson
Gary Hasson

Gary Hasson had previously jammed his short stack and collected the blinds and big blind ante. He just now moved all-in once more from the hijack and Adrian State on the button asked for a count. The shove was for 315,000 and State then announced to be all-in himself.

"I am all out," Tristan Wade in the small blind said and Chase Bianchi got out of the way in the big blind.

Gary Hasson: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Adrian State: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

The {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop immediately improved State to the superior pair and he remained in the lead throughout the {4-Spades} turn and {2-Diamonds} river.

Akkari Eliminated by Shahar

Nível 20 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Andre Akkari
Andre Akkari

Ran Shahar made it 40,000 to go and was called by Andre Akkari. On a flop of {10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts}, Shahar check-raised from 42,000 to 125,000 and Akkari then clicked it back to 300,000 and called all-in for the rest of it when Shahar pushed.

Andre Akkari: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Ran Shahar: {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

The {2-Diamonds} turn failed to improve Akkari and the same also applied for the {k-Spades} river as Shahar prevailed with his set of fives.

Valerstein Scores Double KO; Grunberger and Livingston Eliminated

Nível 20 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Roman Valerstein
Roman Valerstein

The player in the hijack opened to 40,000 and was three-bet to 110,000 by Roman Valerstein in the cutoff. Alex Livingston then shoved on the button for around 700,000 and just behind him, Joel Grunberger also went all in for 448,000 in the small blind. Action folded back to Valerstein, who called to put both players at risk.

Joel Grunberger: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Alex Livingston: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Roman Valerstein: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{7-Spades} — pairing Valerstein's big slick and eliminating both Grunberger and Livingston from the tournament late in the day.

Lehr Doubles with Aces against Moneymaker

Nível 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

Pocket aces had been working wonders for Chris Moneymaker throughout the 2021 Main Event. Well, until a hand he played after the dinner break on the PokerGO livestream.

PokerGO caught the action with the 2003 world champ three-betting to 335,000 with {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}, but he was up against the {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} of Keith Lehr, who reraised to 700,000.

Action back on Moneymaker, who was put in a tough decision with a premium hand. He opted to put Lehr all-in for a 680,000 effective stack. Lehr snap-called and they both watched the board run out {9-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{k-Hearts}{j-Spades} and Lehr shipped a monster pot. For Moneymaker, it was the first major setback for him in four days.

The former Main Event winner told PokerNews during the first break of Day 4 that he expected some fireworks against Lehr, a player he's faced numerous times in the past. He wasn't kidding.

Frustrated Arieh Eliminated

Nível 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Josh Arieh
Josh Arieh

"Pay me my f*****g money!" could be heard throughout the Purple section in the Amazon Room and it was coming from 4x WSOP bracelet winner Josh Arieh.

Arieh was standing up from his seat after just being eliminated and was awaiting a payout clerk to take him to the payout desk. Stephen Gerber happened to be the beneficiary of Arieh's chips and was kind enough to relay the information of what happened.

Arieh raised from under the gun and Gerber defended the big blind. Gerber check-called every street on a board of {8-}{4-}{4-}{10-}{3-} with the river being an all-in shove from Arieh. Gerber made a tough call with {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and caught Arieh bluffing who showed {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Jessica Cai

Casey Coughlan raised under the gun to 32,000 and Jessica Cai three-bet to 125,000. Coughlan four-bet to 307,000 and Cai shoved for 762,000. Coughlan called quickly.

Jessica Cai: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Casey Coughlan: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Spades} and the aces held to knock Cai out of the tournament.

Coughlan is on a Day 4 run that has him nearing the 2 million mark.

Berland Holds to Eliminate Reilly

Nível 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Tim Reilly
Tim Reilly

Michael Berland and Tim Reilly were two of the short stacks at their table once the players returned from dinner break. It didn't take long for them to get their chips in the middle and it just happened to be against each other with Reilly being the player at risk.

Tim Reilly: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}
Michael Berland: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The flop came {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Berland celebrated with a fist pump after hitting a pair of nines. Reilly still had a flush draw but the {7-Clubs} on the turn and the {5-Clubs} on the river were not the right shape for him as he was sent to the payout desk.

Chidwick Soars with a Monster Pot

Nível 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

Stephen Chidwick raised to 26,000 in early position and was called by the player on his left. Georgios Sotiropoulos three-bet to 98,000 in the hijack and the action came back to Chidwick who four-bet to 225,000. The player stuck in the middle let his hand go and Sotiropoulos just called.

The flop came {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Chidwick led out with a bet of 75,000. Sotiropoulos called and the {6-Diamonds} landed on the turn. Chidwick made a slightly larger bet of 125,000 and Sotiropoulos came along for the {9-Clubs} on the river.

Chidwick pushed out a bet of 600,000, enough to cover the 421,000 chips Sotiropoulos had in front of him. After thinking for a brief moment, Sotiropoulos made the call. Chidwick turned over {a-Spades}{5-Spades} for two pair which was enough to send Sotiropoulos to the rail with {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.
