Tensions Rising in the $25K

Tensions have been rising a bit here in the early goings of the $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed) event. Two spats have recently broken out, one involving Luke Vrabel and Erick Lindgren, and the other involving Haralabos Voulgaris and Sergii Baranov.

In the confrontation between Vrabel and Lindgren, there was a hand where Vrabel was faced with a bet of a few thousand and tanked for a bit of time. So much time that Lindgren opted to exercise his right to call the clock. Vrabel didn't take too kindly to this. First, he fired off a tweet that said, "Eric lindgren called a clock on me after 1 minute on the turn... If I owed half the room money I'd stay quiet #itson #zenslayer," and he followed that up by calling the clock on Lindgren a little bit later. When Vrabel called the clock on Lindgren, it was a much larger bet, one that was essentially for Lindgren's tournament life.

Following the clock-calling incidents, the two exchanged several words back and forth. Lindgren argued that Vrabel's clock call was much more in the wrong than Lindgren's was, but Vrabel didn't agree. Vrabel began to spout some words towards Lindgren about his recent and well-documented money issues, which Lindgren didn't take too kindly. Eventually, the floor was summoned and the two players were pulled to the side. After given a warning, they returned to the table, but it didn't end there.

Vrabel made a comment about Lindgren being able to win to cover some of his money problems. Lindgren cracked right back, saying that he looked Vrabel up on Hendon Mob and poked fun at his results, saying that all he does is min-cash whereas Lindgren is a multi-bracelet winner. Then, Daniel Negreanu got involved when he got word of what was happening from Lindgren.

Negreanu was seated at an adjacent table and came over to say his own piece. While he joked towards Vrabel, he repeatedly referred to him as "Catfish" because of an online poker incident involving Vrabel where he allegedly pretended to be a female in order to receive backing from other players. Negreanu meshed this incident with the Manti Te'o catfishing incident and joked away. Eventually, Vrabel received a penalty for his comments.

Since returning from the penalty, both Vrabel and Lindgren haven't said much to each other, but have rather simply been going about their business.

In the incident with Voulgaris and Baranov, the two had their feet tangle up a bit under the table. Voulgaris wanted to extend his legs, and he asked Baranov to please move his feet so he could do so. Baranov wouldn't move he feet for Voulgaris to stretch out, but Voulgaris did so anyway. Baranov didn't take too kindly to this and attempted to kick Voulgaris under the table. Baranov instead kicked the leg of the table and hurt himself. The two exchanged some words, but it doesn't look like either is ready to give up any ground.

Baranov has been know for some antics before. In last year's World Series of Poker Europe Main Event, Baranov bluffed an opponent and proceeded to show. He followed that up by saying, "Fives good?" to rub the bluff in. "What's wrong, you have no balls?" Baranov continued as the table laughed.

A few seconds later, Baranov added, "You know what we do in Ukraine? We eat soup... with brains... brains of our enemies. Just ask Eugene [Katchalov], he's from Ukraine and he knows."

It Only Gets Harder

Nível 4 : 250-500, 75 ante

With a board of {Q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{2-Spades} dealt out, Christian Harder had made a bet of 17,000. Action was on Paul Volpe who had to decide whether or not to call the bet from Harder.

After a long while in the tank, Volpe threw in the chips for a call. Harder showed {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a turned full house. Volpe frustratedly mucked his cards after the hand and rammed two stacks of his chips together.

With that, Volpe was left with a severely short stack, while Harder has picked up an early lead at his table.

Maimone Takes One Out

Nível 4 : 250-500, 75 ante

We arrived at the table just after Nick Maimone opened with a bet from the cut-off. His opponent raised it up to 3,000 from the button, before he opted to raise once more, to 9,100 in chips, which was called.

The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Spades}, before Maimone threw out a continuation bet of 6,325, which was called. The {3-Spades} came on the turn, and Maimone quickly reached for chips, and bet out another 16,100. His opponent went into the tank, before opting to move all in for approximately 5,000 more, and was snap called.

Maimone: {A-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Maimone had his opponent covered with the flush draw and king, leaving only a queen on the river to lose him the hand. The {9-Hearts} ended up completing the board, as a player was eliminated from the tournament, as Maimone moved up to 130,000 in chips.

Giannetti Takes a Bite Out of LuckyChewy

Nível 4 : 250-500, 75 ante

On a board of {2-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{J-Spades} Andrew "LuckyChewy" Lichtenberger put out a bet of 8,500 with only Matt Gianetti left to act. Gianetti decided that he wanted to reraise and he made it a total of 26,000.

Lichtenberger went into the tank and he thought through the hand before he eventually tossed in the chips for a call.

Giannetti flipped up {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for a rivered set of jacks and that was good enough to get Lichtenberger to muck.

Galfond Takes on Quoss

Nível 4 : 250-500, 75 ante

We arrived at the table, with Fabian Quoss having a bet of 4,500 in front of him, and facing a raise of 13,000 from Phil Galfond. He looked over at Galfond and back at the board, before making the call, as the flop came down {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Quoss was staring at Galfond as the dealer spread out the flop, whilst his opponent looked at the board. Galfond’s gaze finally turned to Quoss, before he threw out a continuation bet of 14,000, which was called. The turn card came the {4-Clubs}, as Galfond stared down Quoss. He then opted to check, as did Quoss, as the {q-Hearts} completed the board. The seriousness eventually left the hand, as both players opted to check, before Galfond tabled his {6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for two pair, which was good to take down the pot, as Quoss smiled, tossing his hand into the muck.

Lindgren Gives Some To Silverstein

Nível 4 : 250-500, 75 ante

Action folded to Evan Silverstein who raised to 1,100 preflop from the cutoff. He was called by Erick Lindgren from the big blind.

The flop came down {5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Lindgren led out with a bet of 1,600. Silverstein just called.

The turn was the {K-Spades} and Lindgren checked to Silverstein. Silverstein decided to bet, and he put out one for 3,300. Lindgren just called this time.

The river was the {9-Hearts} and Lindgren checked again. Silverstein made another bet, this time for 7,200. Lindgren thought about it briefly before counting out and tossing in a call.

Silverstein turned up {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for a flopped set and rivered full house and Lindgren mucked his cards.

"I'm glad you didn't raise the flop," Lindgren said to Silverstein after the hand.
