Yong Battles Back from the Brink of Elimination

Nível 6 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

After losing a massive pot to Antonio Esfandiari last level, Macau businessman Richard Yong was left with just 17,000. It seemed like he was slated to be the next to go, but Yong has successfully returned from the brink of elimination.

In a recent hand up on the feature table, Yong got his stack (which he had worked up to 76,400) all in preflop holding the {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and was racing against the {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} of Keith Lehr. Yong was on his feet as the board ran out a safe {4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Antonio Esfandiari congratulated Yong, who let a big smile creep across his face.

Mizrachi Grinded Down and Out

Nível 6 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We noticed Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi's chair was empty and a quick check with Trevor Pope confirmed his elimination.

According to Pope, David Peters opened under the gun and Mizrachi defended from the big blind with {5-}{6-}. The {7-}{4-}{2-} flop delivered Mizrachi an open-ended straight draw and he moved all in for his last 20,000 or so. Peters called with {a-}{a-} and held after the turn and river both failed to help Mizrachi.

Timoshenko Tries the Trap

Nível 6 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Yevgeniy Timoshenko raised to 4,000 in early position, and was called by Ari Goott and Mikael Thuritz. The flop fell {k-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, Thuritz checked, and Timoshenko continued for 8,000. Only Goott called.

The turn was the {5-Hearts}, Timoshenko opted to check, and Goott tossed out 25,000. Timshenko called.

The {q-Spades} completed the board, Timoshenko checked again, and Goott knuckled behind. Timoshenko showed {k-}{q-} for a full house, and Goott mucked his hand.

Dan Smith Eliminated By Tobias Reinkemeier

Nível 6 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Dan Smith - Eliminated
Dan Smith - Eliminated

We arrived in the midst of the action with Tobias Reinkemeier on the button having 30,000 in front of him and Dan Smith in the small blind with 73,500 in front of him.

After a a little while in the tank, Reinkemeier shoved with the bigger stack. Smith called all in for about 220,000 with {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, trailing Reinkemeier's {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. The board ran out {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} bringing no help to Smith, ending his tournament.

Bellande Doubles Galfond

Nível 6 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We saw Jean-Robert Bellande three bet to 13,000 from the button. Apparently Phil Galfond had opened under-the-gun and now that the action was back on him, he shoved for 55,600. "If it's anything less than seventy, I'll have to call" It was in fact less than 70,000 and thus Bellande called.

Galfond showed his {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} while Bellande tabled {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. Bellande would turn a gutshot but none of the four jacks or three aces hit on the river: {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} | {8-Clubs} | {4-Clubs}. Bellande lost a couple of chips but still has well over average. Bellande made a Phil Hellmuth impersonation and stood up while ranting; "Stone cold cooler. This is bullshit!"

Philbort Doesn't Survive Doc

Nível 6 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Philipp Gruissem
Philipp Gruissem

We saw some commotion over at the feature table and made our way over just in time to see Germany's Philipp "Philbort" Gruissem get his stack in holding the {j-Spades}{7-Spades} on a {9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop. He was up against none other than David "Doc" Sands, who had flopped a set with the {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Gruissem's gutshot straight flush draw gave him a 34.75% chance of surviving the hand while Sands was a 65.25% favorite.

Gruissem didn't seemed too worried, that is until the dealer burned and turned the {9-Diamonds}. The paired board gave Sands a full house and meant that Gruissem needed to hit his straight flush to stay alive. Unfortunately for him, there was only a 2.27% chance of that happening. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {6-Clubs}. Gruissem, who is known as one of the most successful high rollers in the game, wished the remaining players well and then slowly strolled out of the tournament area.

Meanwhile, Kathy Lehne, the founder, President and CEO of SunCoast Resources we told you about earlier and one of only two women in the field, appears to have been eliminated from the tournament.

Haxton Axed

Nível 5 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We didn't see the hand unfold, but we do know that Isaac Haxton was just eliminated by 30-year-old Chris Moore of Chicago, Illinois.

What we do know is that the board read {7-}{9-}{8-}{q-}{k-}, Moore won {j-}{10-} and Haxton lost with {10-}{9-}. Unfortunately those are the only details we were able to piece together.
