O'Dwyer Straightens Out Sontheimer

Nível 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Steffen Sontheimer
Steffen Sontheimer

There has been another elimination with Steve O'Dwyer the man to show Steffen Sontheimer the door. We picked up the action on the turn in a three-way pot between the aforementioned two and Isaac Haxton and the action had been checked by O'Dwyer (big blind) and Haxton (middle position) over to Sontheimer on the button with the flop spread {j-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}.

The pot was not huge at this point, but quickly got that way when Sontheimer bet 3,300 and O'Dwyer check-raised to 8,200 in total. Haxton took the hint and bowed out, while Sontheimer made the call to take the action heads-up to the {q-Hearts} turn.

This saw O'Dwyer plonked down a chunky stack of yellow 5k chips for a bet of 60,000, which easily had Sontheimer covered. The German player thought it over before making the call for his tournament life.

"Straight," declared O'Dwyer, rolling over {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Sontheimer flashed him {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} before the {4-Hearts} river completed the hand and a call of 'player out!' echoed through the tournament area and the field was reduced by one.

Haxton Busts Yong

Nível 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Richard Yong
Richard Yong

Players are wasting no time getting into it and there has been yet another casualty with Triton co-founder Richard Yong falling at the hands of Isaac Haxton.

It was Haxton who was the initial instigator, making it 1,550 from the button with Yong responding with a re-raise to 4,500 from the small blind. Haxton asked Yong how much he was playing before moving all-in and eliciting a quick call from his opponent.

Richard Yong: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Isaac Haxton: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Yong found himself trailing to Haxton's big pocket pair and stayed behind when the run out came down {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{4-Clubs} to hit the rail while Haxton stacked up to just over 91,000.

Hsiang Out

Nível 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

The field has been reduced to 15 players with Malaysia's Yeu Wei Hsiang hitting the rail. We don't know who got him, but we do know that Dominik Nitsche has been moved over from table three to table one and is now occupying Hsiang's former seat. There are now three tables of five players running.

Chidwick Returns Favor, Busts Yu

Nível 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

Stephen Chidwick has moved the action up a notch since his earlier elimination at the hands of Winfred Yu and had padded out his stack to the tune of 30,000 from some of his tablemates before returning the bust out the favor to his buster Winfred Yu.

We only arrived in time to catch the aftermath, and it did not look pretty, at least from Yu's perspective. With the board reading {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{10-} {q-Hearts}{10-} Yu had {9-}{10-} for the turned straight, but Chidwick, holding {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} had just rivered a full house to chip up to close to 90,000 while Yu hit the rail as the third bust out of the day.

Yu Busts Chidwick, Loeser Takes From Yu

Nível 5 : 250/500, 50 ante

Stephen Chidwick busted at the hands of Winfred Yu, but the Brit was extremely short after losing that earlier pot to Beh Kok Weng so this is not all that surprising as he hand close to 12 big blinds left.

Chidwick immediately headed over to the registration desk to re-enter and was back in his seat just in time to see Winfred Yu give some of his old chips to Manig Loeser.

It was Loeser who was the initial aggressor, making it 1,000 to go from the cutoff, with Yu the only caller in the big blind. Yu checked the {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop over to Loeser, who c-bet 1,100 and was called, to keep play heads-up to the {q-Diamonds} turn.

This saw no betting, and Yu checked the {k-Diamonds} river over to Loeser, who led for 5,000, which was enough to win the hand when Yu mucked.

Leow Becomes First Casualty

Nível 5 : 250/500, 50 ante
Ivan Leow
Ivan Leow

The number of entrants has grown to 18, but there are only 17 of them currently in action with Malaysia's Ivan Leow becoming the first casualty, but with unlimited re-entry, at least until late registration closes on Day 2 on Monday, 14 May, it's a fair bet that Mr. Leow will be in the action again soon.

We missed the pre-flop action but picked things up on the {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop with over 25,000 in the pot with three players in action; Ivan Leow (middle position), Orpen Kisacikoglu (cutoff) and Christian Christner (button).

The action had been checked over to Christner on the button, who had led out for close to half-pot. Leow check-raised shoved for close to 30,000, Kisacikoglu folded and Christner made a speedy call.

Ivan Leow: {q-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Christian Christner: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

It was not looking good for Leow, who was trailing to the best hand in poker and stayed that way when the {7-Diamonds} turn and {5-Hearts} river completed the hand. Leow headed for the rail, at least for now, and Christner stacked up to close to 80,000.

Weng Takes From Chidwick

Nível 4 : 200/400, 50 ante
Beh Kok Weng
Beh Kok Weng

Malaysia's Beh Kok Weng has almost doubled his stack, but it came at the expense of the UK's Stephen Chidwick. It was Winfred Yu who was the initial instigator, making it 1,000 to go from the cutoff, with Chidwick calling from the button, before Weng squeezed to 4,500 from the big blind.

That was enough to get Yu to fold, but Chidwick tossed in the extras to take play heads-up to a {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop, which Weng continuation-bet for 3,600. Chidwick raised to 9,000 in total with Weng making the call to bring in the {3-Hearts} turn.

The action happened so fast that we are not sure who shoved first, but all the chips went in extremely quickly and both players turned over their cards.

Beh Kok Weng: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Stephen Chidwick: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

The only silver lining for Chidwick, was that Weng was not full stacked, but while the Brit had tuned the nut flush draw he was already drawing dead to Weng's flopped full house and the {k-Hearts} river just rubbed salt into the wound.

Leong Enters, Schillhabel on the Scoreboard

Nível 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

The field has grown by one more, with Malaysia's Chan Wai Leong the newest arrival over on table two. Leong arrived in time to witness Germany's Stefan Schillhabel get on the scoreboard.

It all started with an Orpen Kisacikoglu raise to 1,000 from the cutoff, with Schillhabel peeking at his cards before throwing out chips, but not for calling with, making it 4,000 to go. Kisacikoglu called and the flop came down {5-Clubs}{q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

Schillhabel checked this over to Kisacikoglu, who opted to take a stab for 3,000 and was called to keep both players in action to the {j-Clubs} turn. There was no betting and the {6-Clubs} river completed the board.

Now Schillhabel chose to get aggressive, leading out for 10,700 but found Kisacikoglu uninterested and the Turkish player mucked.
