Down to 5 Tables

Nível 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The average stack of Dominik Nitsche had melted and he put his hopes on the {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Unfortunately, [Removed:17] looked down on the {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} in the big blind and the board of {Q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} failed to improve the German.

With that, the board was reduced to just 40 players and one table broke to balance all remaining hopefuls on the last five tables.

Kempe Busts in Three Hands

Nível 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

In a battle of the blinds, [Removed:17] doubled through Rainer Kempe for 86,500 with {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} versus {K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Kempe was left with a mere 1,500 on a board of {3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Spades}{7-Hearts}.

The next hand, Kempe quadrupled to 6,000 with {A-Spades}{8-Clubs} against the {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} of Daniel Dvoress thanks to the {8-Diamonds} on the river before he was all in again the next hand. Yan and Julian Stuer were still active on the {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop and Yan bet 6,000. Stuer raised to 21,000 and Yan let go.

Julian Stuer: {7-Spades}{5-Spades}
Rainer Kempe: {K-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

The {2-Diamonds} turn and {Q-Clubs} river were blanks and that was it for Kempe.

Sontheimer Doubles Through Patel; Busts Watson

Nível 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Steffen Sontheimer
Steffen Sontheimer

Mike Watson jammed his stack up without showdown and Steffen Sontheimer commented on this with a "nice no showdown poker," to which Watson replied "yeah, the showdowns weren't that good."

Soon after, Sontheimer raised to 9,000 and Emil Patel defended the big blind. On the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop, Patel check-called a bet worth 7,000 before doing so again for 37,500 on the {6-Diamonds} turn. Patel checked the {9-Spades} river and Sontheimer shoved for 84,000. Patel eventually called with {A-Spades}{J-Hearts} and Sontheimer showed {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a set.

Right after, Sontheimer defended his big blind with {6-}{5-} and check-called three streets against Watson on an {A-}{7-}{4-}{8-}{10-} board. Watson had {A-}{7-} for two pair and was gone.

Plesuv Finds an Ace

Nível 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

A raise to 22,500 was in front of Oliver Weis in the cutoff and Pavel Plesuv then moved all in from early position, picking up a quick call by Weis.

Oliver Weis: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Pavel Plesuv: {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop vaulted Plesuv in the lead, and he stayed there thanks to the {4-Diamonds} turn and {7-Hearts} river. Plesuv doubled for 128,500 and Weis' bad run continued, Ryan Riess had doubled through the German just before the dinner break.

Another Three Down the Drain

Nível 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Not even 15 minutes are played after dinner and the next three players have been eliminated. Bogdan Capitan was the first to run out of chips. He faced a raise to 8,000 by Daniel Dvoress from under the gun and Josip Simunic called on the button. Capitan shoved for 58,000 in the small blind and Dvoress called, Simunic folded.

Daniel Dvoress: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Bogdan Capitan: {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

The board came {K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts} and neither over card hit to send Capitan to the rail. Fellow short stack Mikita Badziakouski followed, and Sergio Cabrera sent his stack over to table neighbor Ekrem Sanioglu.

Petrangelo Busts; Watson Short

Nível 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Not all players had returned from the dinner break and Nick Petrangelo was already gone after having lost the battle with his short stack. Other players in immediate risk include Sam Greenwood, Igor Kurganov, Mikita Badziakouski and Mike Watson.

The latter faced a bet of 55,000 on the {J-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} river by Thomas Muehloecker in the hijack. Watson used one time bank card in the cutoff and called, then mucked when Muehloecker flashed {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}.

Dinner Break

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

The 47 remaining players are on a 75-minute dinner break. Action resumes around 8:15 p.m. local time, and another five levels of 60 minutes each are scheduled for today.

Riess Binks Double Before Dinner

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Ryan Riess

Dejan Pustoslemsek, Mark Teltscher, Aleksandar Tomovic and Vladimir Troyanovskiy have all been eliminated in the last 15 minutes before the dinner break. In the very last hand of the level, Ryan Riess then scored a big double at the expense of Oliver Weis.

After an open-raise to 7,500, Weis three-bet to 22,500 in the small blind and Riess four-bet to 48,000 in the big blind. The initial raiser quickly folded, and Weis then moved all in with just a few seconds left on his shot clock. Riess instantly called and Weis said "I knew it" when he saw Riess' cards.

Ryan Riess: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Oliver Weis: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

The board came {9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and the better pocket pair held up for Riess, who doubled for 170,400.
