Petrangelo Eliminated in Huge Three-Way Pot

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Nick Petrangelo
Nick Petrangelo

A massive three-way pot just happened before break that's sent Nick Petrangelo to the rail and Georgios Karakousis into the chip lead.

With approximately 150,000 already in the pot on a turn board of {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}, Arsenii Karmatckii and Petrangelo had checked to Karakoukis in the cutoff, and with both opponents covered, he moved all in.

Karmatckii used several time bank cards before calling for approximately 100,000, and now it was Petrangelo with a decision. Ultimately, he also called for approximately his last 90,000 and the super-cooler was revealed.

Nick Petrangelo: {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Arsenii Karmatckii: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Georgios Karakousis: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Karmatckii was drawing dead, while Petrangelo would need the last three in the deck to survive his set over set ordeal. The {9-Spades} fell on the river however to bust both Karmatckii and Petrangelo in horrific fashion.

Koray Aldemir moved all in from middle position, Juan Carlos Vecino called from the hijack and everyone else folded.

Koray Aldemir: {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Juan Carlos Vecino: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts} to keep Aldemir ahead but the turn was the {k-Spades} to pair the king of Vecino. The river came the {8-Clubs} to confirm Aldemir's elimination on Day 2.

122 of the first 246 entries return Tuesday for Day 2 of the PokerStars European Poker Tour €10,300 EPT High Roller, with Great Britain’s Robert Cowen pacing the field with 285,100 chips.

A litany of poker’s elite and a who’s who of the high roller scene will be hot on his heels to start the day including Kenny Hallaert (258,400), Adrian Mateos (254,400), and Chris Brewer (230,800). Also in the top five is Canadian Thi Xoa Nyugen at 256,000. She had a 17th place finish in this event in 2019, and comes into the day with the third biggest chip count in the room.

A pair of PokerStars Ambassadors will also be entering the day with healthy chip stacks. Ramon Colillas starts Day 2 with 146,500, while Parker Talbot holds 135,500. PokerStars Team Pro Rafael Moraes also survived Day 1 with 54,200 chips.

At the bottom end of the leaderboard, 2021 WSOP Main Event champ Koray Aldemir (22,400) and Stephen Chidwick (16,800) will have some work to do with 14 and 10 big blinds respectively to start the day.

Late registration remains open until the start of play at 12:30 pm CET, and those who busted once Monday will still have the opportunity to re-enter at that point with a fresh 50,000 chip starting stack of just over 31 big blinds.

Once those final entrants have hopped into the tournament, the still-growing prize pool of €2,386,200 will be finalized and payouts for the final 15% will be announced. Play is expected to get into the money with a minimum of ten levels scheduled or play down to the final table, with a dinner break after level 16.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for continued full coverage of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague from King’s Casino at the Hilton Prague.
