Robert Cowen
Robert Cowen

122 of the first 246 entries return Tuesday for Day 2 of the PokerStars European Poker Tour €10,300 EPT High Roller, with Great Britain’s Robert Cowen pacing the field with 285,100 chips.

A litany of poker’s elite and a who’s who of the high roller scene will be hot on his heels to start the day including Kenny Hallaert (258,400), Adrian Mateos (254,400), and Chris Brewer (230,800). Also in the top five is Canadian Thi Xoa Nyugen at 256,000. She had a 17th place finish in this event in 2019, and comes into the day with the third biggest chip count in the room.

A pair of PokerStars Ambassadors will also be entering the day with healthy chip stacks. Ramon Colillas starts Day 2 with 146,500, while Parker Talbot holds 135,500. PokerStars Team Pro Rafael Moraes also survived Day 1 with 54,200 chips.

At the bottom end of the leaderboard, 2021 WSOP Main Event champ Koray Aldemir (22,400) and Stephen Chidwick (16,800) will have some work to do with 14 and 10 big blinds respectively to start the day.

Late registration remains open until the start of play at 12:30 pm CET, and those who busted once Monday will still have the opportunity to re-enter at that point with a fresh 50,000 chip starting stack of just over 31 big blinds.

Once those final entrants have hopped into the tournament, the still-growing prize pool of €2,386,200 will be finalized and payouts for the final 15% will be announced. Play is expected to get into the money with a minimum of ten levels scheduled or play down to the final table, with a dinner break after level 16.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for continued full coverage of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague from King’s Casino at the Hilton Prague.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts} to keep Aldemir ahead but the turn was the {k-Spades} to pair the king of Vecino. The river came the {8-Clubs} to confirm Aldemir's elimination on Day 2.

Petrangelo Eliminated in Huge Three-Way Pot

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Nick Petrangelo
Nick Petrangelo

A massive three-way pot just happened before break that's sent Nick Petrangelo to the rail and Georgios Karakousis into the chip lead.

With approximately 150,000 already in the pot on a turn board of {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}, Arsenii Karmatckii and Petrangelo had checked to Karakoukis in the cutoff, and with both opponents covered, he moved all in.

Karmatckii used several time bank cards before calling for approximately 100,000, and now it was Petrangelo with a decision. Ultimately, he also called for approximately his last 90,000 and the super-cooler was revealed.

Nick Petrangelo: {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Arsenii Karmatckii: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Georgios Karakousis: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Karmatckii was drawing dead, while Petrangelo would need the last three in the deck to survive his set over set ordeal. The {9-Spades} fell on the river however to bust both Karmatckii and Petrangelo in horrific fashion.

Leonard Eliminated

Nível 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Patrick Leonard
Patrick Leonard

The daunting all-in triangle was sitting in front of Patrick Leonard with Martin Kabrhel and Ramon Colillas still building a side pot on a turn board of {6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}.

Kabrhel bet 35,000 from the big blind and was called by Colillas in late position. On the {3-Spades} river, both players checked and everyone revealed their cards.

Patrick Leonard: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Martin Kabrhel: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Ramon Colillas: {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

"I tried", said Kabrhel as he mucked his ace-high, which along with Leonard's identical ace-high fell to Colillas' pair of eights to drag both the main and side pots.

Set Over Set, Amiri vs Nguyen

Nível 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Ehsan Amiri
Ehsan Amiri

The flop read {3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. From early position, Thi Xoa Nguyen bet 8,000. Ehsan Amiri raised to 25,000 on her direct left. Nguyen took a time extension before she three-bet to 67,000. After a few moments Amiri four-bet jammed all in and Nguyen called instantly.

It was a set over set situation as Nguyen had the {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} but Amiri had the hammer with the {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {6-Hearts} and the river the {2-Clubs} to give the huge pot to Amiri. His stack was counted out to be 210,00 as Nguyen had to surrender a significant portion of her large stack.

Huge Flip Leaves Nguyen on Fumes, Eliminated Soon After

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Thi Nguyen
Thi Nguyen

Juan Pardo opened to 8,000 in early position, and Badre Al Ghouch called on the button. Thi Xoa Nguyen then three-bet squeezed from the big blind for 36,000. Pardo four-bet all in for a stack of about 180,000 which was just covered by Nguyen.

Al Ghouch folded and Nguyen called.

Juan Pardo: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Thi Xoa Nguyen: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

A king in the window of the {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop brought Nguyen's participation in the tournament into jeopardy, and the {3-Clubs} turn and {4-Clubs} brought no help.

Nguyen was left with just 15,000 chips, and she was eliminated soon after in hugely disappointing fashion after starting the day with the third largest stack at the end of Day 1.

Pardo's Stack Continues to Grow with Another Elimination

Nível 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

With about 80,000 in the pot and a turn board reading {2-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, Badre Al Ghouch was put to the test by Juan Pardo for all of his remaining 90,000 chips.

Without any remaining time bank cards, Al Ghouch had only 30 seconds to make his decision. Before the clock hit zero, Al Ghouch called to see he was in deep trouble.

Badre Al Ghouch: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Juan Pardo: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Al Ghouch would need a ten on the river, but the {a-Hearts}fell instead to eliminate Al Ghouch from the tournament.

Nagygyorgy Slayed by Set

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Tibor Nagygyorgy
Tibor Nagygyorgy

Action arrived on the turn as the board read {6-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. From the hijack, Tibor Nagygyorgy bet 27,000. Tamas Adamszki raised to 80,000 on the button. Nagygyorgy called.

The river was the {7-Spades}. Adamszki moved all in to put Nagygyorgy to the test. He thought for a while before he called.

He immediately saw the bad news as Adamszki had the {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flopped set while Nagygyorgy meekly tabled the {k-Spades}{q-Spades} and stood up as his elimination brought the field to the stone bubble where hand for hand play has begun.

Big Stacks Play Chicken on the Bubble

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

With many short stacks clinging to survival on the bubble, big stack holders Juan Pardo and Laurynas Levinskas decided to play a bit of chicken preflop.

Pardo opened under the gun to 20,000 and was three-bet on the big blind to 90,000 by Levinskas. Pardo then clicked it back with a four-bet to 160,000.

With 475,000 behind, Levinskas opted to fold and preserve his stack, still shipping nearly 20% of his stack to Pardo.

Ivarsson Hero Calls Correctly to Survive on the Bubble

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Alexander Ivarsson
Alexander Ivarsson

On a flop of {a-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}, Alexander Ivarsson checked to Vlad Darie in the cutoff. Darie bet 11,000 and Ivarsson called.

The turn brought the {k-Hearts} and again Ivarsson checked. Darie asked Ivarsson how much he had behind, but Ivarsson remained stoic. The shot clock ran out on Darie who had no time banks remaining, but the floor was called because Darie wanted clarification of the ruling because he took time waiting for a replay from Ivarsson. The ruling was that Darie must check.

So the duo was off to the river of the {4-Diamonds} and once more Ivarsson checked. This time, Darie slid forward a tower of T-5,000 chips that would cover Ivarsson's remaining 92,000 chips.

Ivarsson used 3 minutes of time bank chips before flicking in a chip to call with his tournament on the line.

Darie showed {5-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for a stone bluff.

Ivarsson showed {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for just second pair, but it was good.

Darie is down to under 400,000 while Ivarsson's stack is back over 200,000 and healthy as the bubble continues.
