De Benedittis Doubles through Abrahams

Nível 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Javed Abrahams opened the button to 33,000 and from the big blind Carlo De Benedittis shoved all in for 172,000. Abrahams thought about it for some time and then called.

Abrahamas showed his {7-Clubs}{7-Spades} first. De Benedittis looked at his cards, made a checking motion with them, and then tabled them: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}.

The {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop wasn't any good news for Abrahams. Besides a very optimistic running nines for a split pot, no extra direct outs for him. The {K-Spades} on the turn and {6-Hearts} on the river didn't help him either and he had to forfeit 172,000 chips.

Ho Law Doubles through Goulder

Nível 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

And again it was "All in and a call!", this time coming from table 16.

Goulder was seated under the gun plus one and had {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} open in front of him. His opponent was Chun Ho Law in middle position and he had {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} on it's back.

The dealer dealt {6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades} in rapid fashion and all Goulder could say was "Nice hand". Chun Ho Law had 395,000 and got that back times two (plus some blinds and antes of course).

Goulder Verus Ziyard

Nível 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Alex Goulder - chip leader
Alex Goulder - chip leader

In the Battle of Britain it's Alex Goulder who's getting the better of Zimnan Ziyard at the moment, the British duo have clashed in two pots since the break with Goulder winning them both.

In the first Goulder opened to 33,000 from under-the-gun and called when Ziyard three-bet to 85,000 from the small blind. The two players checked all the way to the river on a {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{K-Spades}{5-Hearts} board at which juncture Ziyard bet 102,000. "Just a call," said Goulder. "Do you have an eight?" asked Ziyard as he showed {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}, indeed Goulder did as he opened {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

"You're running like God or Jesus, or maybe both, what shall we call you?" asked Alexandre Amiel. "Mary," replied Goulder.

Then two hands later Marko Laine made it 35,000 to go from a stack of 300,000, Ziyard called from the cut-off and after asking Ziyard how much he had back (540,000) Goulder called from the small blind. The {6-Spades}{A-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop checked through and the {9-Spades} hit the turn. First to act Goulder bet 55,000, Laine passed, Ziyard made it 113,000 to go and Goulder smooth called. The {7-Clubs} river went check-check and Goulder showed {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} to win the hand.

Sweeney Doubles through Maenpaa

Nível 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

"All in and a call!" the dealer at table 12 shouted. When we rushed over we saw Andrew Sweeney all in from the small blind for exactly 300,000 with {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. His opponent was Tatu Maenpaa who had presumably opened the hand from early position with {10-Hearts}{10-Spades} and was now about the race Sweeney for all of his chips.

The {J-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop was good for the Irishman. The {3-Spades} on the turn and {2-Spades} on the river didn't mean any danger for him and he doubled to 630,000.

Jeffrey Hakim Eliminated in 24th Place (€18,200)

Nível 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Jeffrey Hakim
Jeffrey Hakim

Jeffrey Hakim made the final table here in Deauville last year, finishing 8th for €60,000. Another deep run here this year, this time he finishes in 24th place.

Oliver Price opened to 32,000 from early position and Jeffrey Hakim shoved a couple of spots behind him. The other players still left to act all folded, Price immediately called. Hakim had {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and was up against Price his {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}.

The flop wasn't good for Hakim as Price almost had a hammerlock on the hand: {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. The {10-Hearts} on the turn made for some excitement as Hakim had outs to a straight all of the sudden. The runner runner would not be as the river was no queen but the {10-Clubs}, giving Price a full house.

The remaining 23 players are now guaranteed €21,220.

Sweeney Can't Pull the Trigger

Nível 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Andrew Sweeney just spent five minutes in the tank on the river in a hand against Sotirios Koutoupas, guessed the Greek's exact hand but couldn't quite make the call.

Koutoupas raised to 32,000 from the cut-off and then called when Sweeney three-bet to 76,000. On the {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop Sweeney c-bet 65,000 and Koutoupas made the call. On the {5-Diamonds} turn Sweeney slowed down, checking it to Koutoupas who bet 135,000, call from Sweeney.

There was now 540,000 in the pot and the {6-Hearts} completed the board. Sweeney checked, Koutoupas asked Sweeney how much he was playing, "about 370,000," replied Sweeney. The Greek player then pushed forward a stack of 500,000 to set Sweeney all-in. The Irishman looked to the heavens, looked at the tournament clock (there's a pay jump between 24th and 23rd) and then started thinking over his decision.

"Have you got pocket threes that got counterfeited?" asked Sweeney? Another minute or so passed and Sweeney pushed his cards into the muck, Koutoupas showed {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} as he took the pot and Sweeney tapped the table in a way that indicated he'd passed ace high.
