Zimnan Ziyard Eliminated in 22nd Place (€21,220)

Nível 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Zimnan Ziyard
Zimnan Ziyard

EPT Loutraki winner Zimnan Ziyard has just been eliminated. No two time European Poker Tour winner thus this tournament.

He was crippled in a hand against Alexandre Amiel. On a {8-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{K-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} board he called a 100,000 river bet from the Frenchman. Amiel showed {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}, Ziyard mucked his {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades} in a cutoff versus button situation.

With just under 90,000 left he open raised some hands later to 85,000. Behind him was Carlo De Benedittis who shoved all in. The other players quickly folded and Ziyard made the call for a few 1,000 more.

Ziyard showed his {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} first. Again De Benedittis looked for some seconds to his cards. Again he made a checking motion with them, giving Ziyard a couple of seconds of hope. Hope of a flip, or even maybe the best hand? Nope... De Benedittis finally showed his {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and the dealer could start dealing a board.

The fours of Ziyard found no help anywhere: {7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. And just like that the EPT Deauville 2014 Main Event was free of former EPT winners. We'll crown a new champion in two days.

Big Hand before the Break

Nível 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Right before the break we saw Tatu Maenpaa open the cutoff for 35,000 and Oliver Price made the call from the small blind. Jean-Yves Malherbe was seated in the big blind and rather short. He was thinking about pushing, you could clearly tell, but decided against it in the end.

{K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{J-Spades} on the flop and Price check called 36,000. Price check called another 83,000 on the {3-Spades}-turn. The {6-Diamonds} on the river made Price check a third time. Maenpaa made it 205,000 and after some thinking Price called. Maenpaa quickly showed {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}. That hand was second best though, Price tabled {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and took it down.

The up to date chip counts of both gentlemen are listed below:

And another all in and a call on table 16.

Alex Goulder was the unfortunate soul with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. Mustapha Amaouche had {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} in front of him and was well ahead.

The {J-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} board wasn't of any help to Goulder who had to part ways with 374,000 in chips.

Kamel Boukhalfa Doubles Through Rustem Muratov

Nível 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

A big double up for Kamel Boukhalfa at the feature table. The Frenchman, who was on the button, called a raise of 32,000 from Rustem Muratov, who was in early position. On the {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{K-Diamonds} flop Muratov gave up the betting lead, Boukhalfa didn't need a second invitation, he bet 42,000, Muratov moved all-in and Boukhalfa, who was the effective stack, called all-in for 326,000 total.

Muratov: {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Boukhalfa: {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

The Frenchman had flopped two pair to move ahead of Muratov and he stayed there on the {9-Spades} turn and {6-Clubs} river. He's up to 762,000 whilst Muratov drops to 339,000.

Marko Laine Eliminated in 23rd Place (€21,220)

Nível 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Marko Laine
Marko Laine

Down to just 219,000 Marko Laine moved all-in from early position and Alexandre Amiel isolated by moving all-in from the button for roughly 700,000. Everyone else folded, including Alex Goulder, who would say after the hand that he folded pocket fives.

Laine: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Amiel: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The {K-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} flop kept Laine in front, "The 10 would be the card," said Amiel. The {5-Clubs} fell on fourth street, "I'm sorry it's coming on the river," said Amiel and indeed it did as the {10-Clubs} made Amiel a broadway straight and eliminated Laine in 23rd place.
