UK.PokerNews.com's Mathew Pitt contributed the following on Stephen Chidwick:
It has been quite a year at the felt for Stephen “stevie444” Chidwick and one that he is unlikely to forget in a hurry.
Chidwick was in scintillating form at the 2013 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas where he cashed no fewer than nine times, two of those cashes being final table appearances. His largest cash of the WSOP topped the scales at $353,780, which was his reward for finishing fourth in the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em Six-Handed event.
Earlier this week, Chidwick almost won the €1,100 Eureka Poker Tour Main Event, but fell short and had to console himself with the €92,500 third place prize money. Now Chidwick has a realistic chance of walking away with the massive €889,000 winner’s prize in the European Poker Tour Prague Main Event.
Regardless of where Chidwick finishes at the EPT Prague final table, he will take down the Global Poker Index Player of the Year title for the United Kingdom. Chidwick’s exact points total will not be known until the conclusion of the EPT Prague Main Event final table, but he is guaranteed to have kept the likes of Matthew Ashton, Toby Lewis and David Vamplew to the Player of the Year award.
UK & Ireland PokerNews will be going into the UK & Ireland’s POY standings in the near future so be sure to head over there to check out the final standings and a recap of what has been a great year for Chidwick and his fellow countrymen.
