Kabrhel Bags Huge After Day 1d in Event #5: €550 No-Limit Hold'em COLOSSUS

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

It was a wild end to Day 1d in Event #5: €550 No-Limit Hold'em COLOSSUS where 77 players will be advancing to Day 2 of the 688 total entries. In the last few hands of the night, Martin Kabrhel scooped the largest pot of the tournament thus far to bag a whopping 980,000 chips.

Kabrhel already has two World Series of Poker gold bracelets that he has won right here at King's Casino. Kabrhel entered the tournament for the second time just before late registration closed. He managed to run up a stack to over 400,000 before the bubble came along, and in one of the last hands of the night, he collided with Charles Motamedi in a monster pot.

Kabrhel managed to scoop the pot with just a pair of jacks and eliminated Motamedi in the process. Kabrhel currently holds the overall chip lead by quite some margin with his nearest competitor being Nawroz Gaff. In the latter stages of the day, Gaff vaulted to the top of the leaderboard as well and finished the day with 658,000 chips. Cenk Oguz rounds out the top three counts for Day 1d as he finished with a healthy stack of 600,000.

This was the third of four starting flights for this event and it was the largest one thus far. A total of 688 entries were recorded with the player-cap being increased to 1,000 and only one flight running each day. Some notables that fell short of reaching the end of the day include Michal Mrakes, Max Pescatori, Zhong Chen, and Floor ten Zijthof.

Once again, the bubble was reached just after the last break of the day. It only took a couple of hands in the -hand-for-hand process until Zhao Feng got all of his chips in the middle with pocket jacks. Unfortunately for him, Henning Wendlandt woke up with pocket queens and Feng was unable to improve. The remaining 104 players were all guaranteed at least €895 for a min-cash.

Henning Wendlandt and Zhao Fang got all of their chips in the middle with Fang being the player at risk for around 100,000. Once all of the action was complete at the other tables, the two hands were turned face up.

Zhao Feng: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Henning Wendlandt: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The flop came {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Wendlandt held the lead with his pocket queens. The {3-Clubs} on the turn left Feng drawing to just two outs and the {2-Spades} on the river was not one of them.

Everything is a Cooler

Nível 16 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

Klaus Schiefer opened to 8,000 in early position and was called by Milad Oghabian in the cutoff and Martin Kabrhel in the small blind.

The flop came {q-Clubs}{j-Spades}{3-Clubs} and the action checked to Oghabian who bet 20,000. Kabrhel called and Schiefer jammed all in for 101,000. Oghabian quickly folded and Kabrhel asked if it was a bluff, to which Schiefer responded with a "yes". Kabrhel quickly flicked in a chip to call and tabled his {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} which was up against the {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} of Schiefer.

The {4-Hearts} on the turn also gave Schiefer a straight draw but the {9-Spades} on the river bricked everything. Kabrhel collected the pot and Schiefer headed for the exit.

"It was a cooler," Kabrhel said. "Everything is a cooler."

Hazan Gets Unlucky Against ten Zijthof

Nível 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Floor Ten Zijthof
Floor Ten Zijthof

Avraham Hazan opened to 2,200 in early position and Floor ten Zijthof three-bet to 7,000 just a couple of seats over. The action folded back to Hazan who called to see a flop of {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

Hazan checked to Ten Zijthof who announced all in. The dealer thought she checked and put the {5-Hearts} on the turn prematurely. Hazan called off the rest of his 14,000 chips and the {5-Hearts} was put to the side to be washed back in the deck.

Ten Zijthof showed {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} and was trailing the {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} of Hazan. The new turn card was the {j-Diamonds} which changed nothing but the river was now the {a-Spades} which gave Ten Zijthof a pair of aces and eliminated Hazan.

Marin Flops a Straight

Nível 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
George Marin
George Marin

George Marin raised it up from the cutoff and Alessandro Laubinger defended from the big blind. The flop came {5-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} and Laubinger just shipped all in for around 4,000. Marin quickly called and had Laubinger in rough shape.

Marin flipped over {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a flopped straight while Laubinger needed some help with {6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. The {q-Spades} on the turn put four spades on the board but neither player held one in their hand. The {5-Diamonds} on the river locked up the win for Marin as Laubinger exited the tournament.

"Seat open!" could be heard across the room, coming from Table 127 in the first few minutes of the tournament. A completed board of {k-}{7-}{5-}{j-}{2-} was spread across the felt.

Martin Stefanovski had {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} in front of him but was getting up from his seat as Eun Yul Yee tabled {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} for a set of jacks. Stefanovski became the first elimination of the day and Yee was the beneficiary of his chips.
