Cassidy Enters Late and Stirrs Up Trouble: Feldman Eliminated

Andrew Feldman eliminated against Cassidy
Andrew Feldman eliminated against Cassidy

There was a limp from under the gun and also from Joe Cassidy UTG+1. The play folded to the button where there was a raise to 1,500. Andrew Feldman was seated in the small blind and he called as did the big blind and the two limpers. So we had a 6k pot and a whole host of players after it.

Flop: {K-} {K-} {8-}

The action checked around to the player on the button and he moved all-in for 10,000 into a 6,000 pot. Andrew Feldman made the call, the big blind folded, the player under the gun folded and Joe Cassidy also called.

Turn: {Q-}

Feldman checked, Cassidy bet 11,000, Feldman moved all-in for 26,000 and Cassidy called.

Showdown

The river bricked for everyone except Cassidy. The player on the button was eliminated, Cassidy was up to 80,000 and Feldman had 1 x 25 chip.

In the next five hands Feldman managed to spin that 1 x 25 chip up to 4,000. He looked down and saw pocket jacks and moved in for the sixth successive hand and was called by a player holding queens. The queens held up and Feldman was eliminated.

John Tabatabai Eliminated

John Tabatabai eliminated on Day 1b
John Tabatabai eliminated on Day 1b

Former WSOPE Main Event runner-up John Tabatabai has just been eliminated in unfortunate circumstances. When we got to the table Tabatabai was on his feet, assessing the damage, and he looked gutted. In the middle of the table surrounded by chips was the board - {10-Spades} {J-Clubs} {6-Spades} {A-Spades} {2-Hearts}. Lying just above the board was the hand {K-Spades} {8-Spades} and it belonged to Stefano Povia. It seems Tabatabai had a decision for his tournament life on the turn when he was faced with an all-in shove. Tabatabai told us that against any other player he would have folded, but this particular player had a lot of worst flush draws in his range and he felt he had to call. Tabatabia had {Q-Spades} {5-Spades} and after the mess was sorted out by the dealer he was only left with 700 chips.

Then what a wrong time to pick to put those last 700 chips into the middle of the table. Moritz Kranich raised to 1,025, Tabatabai moved his last 700 into the middle, Joseph Elpayaa three-bet to 3,100, Philippe Boucher four-bet to 8,200 and Moritz Kranich five-bet to 23,775. Boucher folded and Kranich and Tabatabai were at showdown.

Showdown

Kranich{Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts}
Tabatabai{A-Spades} {2-Hearts}

Board: {K-Spades} {8-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}

Tabatabai was eliminated.

Kostritsyn in the Lead

We don't have many of the details of this hand, only second-hand info from those nearby. But regardless of how it went down, Alex Kostritsyn has pipped to the front of the leader board with 146,000.

The last pot began with him raising, and he got a four-bet in when an opponent across the table reraised. There was action on every street of the {4-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} board, and Kostritsyn shoved for about 35,000 on the river. His opponent spent several long minutes in the tank, long enough that the clock had to be put on him. Finally, he made the call, turning over pocket kings.

Kostritsyn had that (just) beaten. He tabled {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}, and the aces give him a big chip boost close to 150,000.

Tony G Bikes Palacios

From under the gun, James Dempsey raised to 900. In the next seat, Bolivar Palacios reraised to 2,700. Action folded around to Tony G in the big blind and he four-bet to 5,400. Dempsey got out of the way and then Palacios moved all in for 16,650. Tony G called.

Tony G: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Palacios: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The flop, turn and river kept the tens in the lead for Tony G as it came {J-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

So Long, Sorel

Sorel Mizzi - out
Sorel Mizzi - out

Robert Mizrachi opened to 1,050 from early position, and the action folded around to the button. There, Sorel Mizzi grabbed his last 7,225 chips and slung them across the line. In the big blind, Sandra Naujoks over-called to put Mizzi at risk, and Mizrachi called as well to give him a shot at the triple up.

The board ran out {6-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {9-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {9-Clubs}, and Mizzi was hiding his eyes behind his hands. Mizrachi turned over {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}, Naujoks the superior {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}, and Mizzi looked up and said, "Nice hand," as he flicked his cards into the muck.

A Sly Double

From under the gun, Jason Gigliotti raised to 1,050. Christopher Sly reraised from the next seat and then action folded around to Hiroaki Harada in the big blind. He four-bet to 6,300. Gigliotti thought for a minute and then folded. Sly had other ideas and reraised all in for 20,250. Harada made the call.

Harada: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Sly: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}

After the hands were turned over, Gigliotti chimed in and said he folded the other two queens -- not something Harada wanted to hear.

The flop, turn and river ran out {K-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Sly doubled up.

Tense Pre Flop Hand

Sometimes some of the best hands are the ones where you don't see any hands!

Michael Drummond raised to 900 in the hijack seat and quickly covered the side of his mouth that was facing the opponent to his direct left. That opponent happened to be Triple Crown winner Jake Cody. Cody had that look about him, the one where you know he is about to make a move, he three-bet Drummond and the bet was for 2,600. Cody and Drummond remained transfixed, and we have to give them credit for that because the action folded around to Beth Shak in the big blind, and Shak is usually worth breaking eye contact for.

"A raise and a re-raise? How much is that?" Said an anxious Shak.

The dealer confirmed the size of the three-bet and Shak mucked her hand, stood up and started speaking to someone on the phone. Back to Drummond, who had not moved a muscle, and he made the four-bet to 5,450. Cody thought for two-minutes and eventually folded his hand.

"I folded queens," said Shak.

Schwartz Sent Off

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Noah Schwartz - out
Noah Schwartz - out

Noah Schwartz got his last ~18,000 chips into the middle preflop with ace-king, and he seemed content to flip for double or nothing against an opponent with pocket eights.

There was a king on the river, but it was too little, too late for Schwartz. His opponent flopped a set of eights, and Schwartz is out of the Main Event.

Freddy Deeb Just Below Average

Freddy Deeb anything but average
Freddy Deeb anything but average

There was a raise in early position to 1,200 and both Freddy Deeb (SB) and Filippo Candio (BB) called. The flop was {6-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} and both blinds checked to the raiser and he c-bet 2,000. Both players called and we saw a turn of {4-Spades} and everyone checked. The last card was the {Q-Clubs} and Deeb was the man who came out firing for 7,000. Candio mucked instantly and it was on the pre flop raiser to make his decision. The guy had around 10,000 left so it was a decision for the rest of his chips and he decided to keep them and folded his hand.
