Albert Daher, in early position, moved all in for a total of 14,500. A player in middle position was the only caller.

''No!'' Daher commented. ''You wanna chop? There is too much money in the pot!'' His opponent laughed. ''I see myself not here in five minutes, I can feel it,'' Daher continued.

Albert Daher: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The dealer spread a {8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop on the table.

''I need a three!'' Daher said.

The blank {q-Diamonds} came on the turn, but the river was, indeed, the {3-Clubs}.

''Well, I asked you to chop, and you didn't want. This is karma,'' Albert told his opponent.

His tablesmates laughed, and one of them commented,''Well, at least we're having a good time now!''

Late Stages of Day 1b; Late Arrivals, Survivals, and Imbibers

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Day 1B Players Pack the Amazon Room
Day 1B Players Pack the Amazon Room

Barny Boatman has bought in at the last moment, even later than Antonio Esfandiari. Boatman, though, had a different take on his late arrival, announcing with a slight note of alarm, “I didn’t know the blinds were going to be so high.”

On another table, Allen Kessler shoved from the small blind over a 2,000 open to win the pot without showdown, saying, “I’m alive.”

On other tables, it has reached what is traditionally known as the “beer level,” in which a few players like to let their hair down and have a drink, knowing they are close to bagging up at the end of a gruelling day of poker.

Antonio Esfandiari Here For a Good Time

Nível 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Antonio Esfandiari has just bought into the MONSTER STACK with less than a half hour until the close of registration, and he is making friends with the table, saying he may not be here for too long as he just has the 15,000-chip starting stack. The table seems pleased to see him, though, and has perked up after eight long hours at the table.

“You’ve been sitting here working hard all day, and I was out goofing around,” was how Esfandiari put it.
