Alan “Cant’ Make a Day Two” Sipe has arrived at table 600 in Miranda.
There was an all-in and Sipe made the call.
Sipe held and his opponent tabled her .
The flop was giving Sipe top pair as his disconsolate opponent rose to leave.
The turn was the and Sipe tapped the table as she started to sit down again.

Down to less than 12 big blinds, Matt Affleck tried to hit the uphill over a limp from under the gun and a huge raise to 20,000 from a player two seats over Affleck shoved all-in from the hijack, putting the price to 27,600. The extra 7,600 were no problem for the player in the middle position.
Affleck was trailing with against and hoped for an ace to come to the rescue.

Raymond Speck was the table talker for the first four hours of this tournament. Aided by a few alcoholic refreshments a sense of fun and a bit of gamble he was in a lot of pots but that has all come to an end.
Raymond Speck has been eliminated, but he has not yet left the building.
Hovering around his previous table he gestured with his beer and reflected, “Every time I was ahead I lost. Every time I was behind I won. Good luck guys, I hope you all win,”
The table didn’t seem too unhappy to see him leave and they have been recently joined by a very much sober Dara O'Kearney. They may have a bit more trouble getting chips from him though.
“I’m done with Vegas,” continued Speck as he wander away, “I’m sick of losing big pots on Day 2.”
Day 1b of The Giant continues.

Phil Laak had and didn't hit anything on the board, but somehow, his hand was still good enough to provide him with a double.
Laak moved up to 17,300, paid his ante and played the following hand, seated in the cutoff. Action folded to him and he open-shoved his remaining 16,900. He found a customer in the player in the big blind.
Phil Laak:
Big blind:
The board missed Laak's cards again, but this time his hand wasn't strong enough to keep him in the tournament. Laak offered a "good luck guys" to the table before leaving the Miranda Room.
Meanwhile, Jamie Kerstetter is no longer sitting at McKeehen's table as she couldn't spin her short stack up.

Valentin Vornicu is crushing his table, and he captured another chunk just now. Vornicu needed a bit of luck to do so as his was trailing to his opponent's .
A loss woudn't hurt Vornicu's stack much as his opponent had only a few remaining big blinds. Nonetheless, Vornicu spiked a three on the board to score the elimination.
Vornicu is the 2002 International Mathematics Olympiad bronze medalist, and he showed his mathematic brains right at the table.
He quickly cut his piles of chips, declaring "one-seventy-five" in the blink of an eye. If there is a trustworthy player who can provide an accurate chip-count, it must be Valentin Vornicu. That being said, he's maneuvering one of the bigger stacks in the remaining field.

Todd Brunson has been moved to Miranda and joined some new tablemates, or as he tweeted in his inimitable style, “Got moved to a new room with plenty of fresh faces to incinerate.”
Brunson though is entertaining the table with a few of his vast wealth of poker stories and they are lapping it up. Bob Altman in particular seemed to have struck up a rapport with Brunson and was offering to buy him another beer when the waitress came round. The relationship would be short lived however.
There was an open to 1,600 and a raise to 4,000 before Altman jammed the rest of it for 13,600.
The original raiser folded but the other player called.
Altman had and his opponent showed .
The board ran out .
An eventual full-house did for Altman.
“Pretty brutal runout.” Brunson observed who said he should have offered insurance on the hand. Altman vowed to return with a beer and took his beat well.
