Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.

In the 11th episode, Connor speaks with Dan "Jungleman" Cates about accountability in poker, his notorious heads-up challenge with Tom Dwan, Game of Gold, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, mindfulness in poker and his new podcast Winning the Game of Life.

Cates also talked about his iconic Poker Players Championship outfits and a six-figure downswing he experienced at Bellagio during the summer.

This interview was filmed at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) inside Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

Stanislav Barshak had made a pot-sized bet of 450,000 on a turn of 5♦4♦8♣A♠ from the small blind. Alexander Condon then announced his all-in for 845,000, less than the minimum raise.

Barshak shook his head and mucked his cards, leaving the massive pot to Condon, who ended up as the table chip leader.

After having just eliminated Brett Bader in a previous hand, Francisco Benitez raised to 42,000 in the cutoff. Lawrence Brandt then jammed all in for 88,000 on the button, after which Jonathan Bowers four-bet in the small blind.

Benitez let his hand go, leaving the other two players to fight for the pot.

Bowers made two pair on the K♦5♣2♦ flop, which remained the best hand on the 10♠9♠ runout to send Brandt out.

Deeb Lets It Go Against Lindgren
