The first day of Event #61: $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold'em at the 2024 World Series of Poker, held at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, has concluded with a record-breaking 3,362 entries, generating an enticing prize pool of $2,958,560. The top prize is set at $358,045, along with the coveted bracelet, while the minimum payout starts at $2,001 for those finishing in 505th place and above. A total of 975 players remain and will return tomorrow at 11 a.m. local time to compete at the Horseshoe Event Center.
David Goodkin (349,500) is the overnight chip leader. Along with him at the top of the leaderboard is Paul Runge with 275,000, followed closely by Robert Nolen with 264,000 and Nick Bennett with 258,000.

Day 2 will commence at 11 a.m. local time, with players scheduled to play ten 60-minute levels. There will be a 15-minute break after every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break scheduled after Level 16 at approximately 5:30 p.m. local time. The clock will start on Level 11, with blinds set at 1,000/2,000 and a big blind ante of 2,000.

Action was picked up on the flop with three players in the pot on a board showing 3♥5♦A♥. A player in the small blind bet 6,000, before Sammy Farha raised all in for 49,000 from middle position. The player in the hijack made the call, and the small blind folded.

Farha was behind the pair of aces of his opponent but could hit a heart for a flush. When the board ran out J♣ on the turn and the 2♥ on the river, Farha did just that and made a king high flush, to double up and stay in the tournament.

Saegert opened the action with a raise to 3,200 from the hijack and both players in the blinds called.
The flop came J♥10♣8♦. The player in the small blind decided to lead for 3,200. Big blind folded and Saegert called.
The turn was the 10♥. Small blind slowed down and checked. Saegert bet 8,000, got the call and the two players went to the river.
The 4♣ rolled off. After small blind checked, Saegert bet again, this time for 10,000. Small blind released the hand and Saegert took down the pot.
Saegert told PokerNews that he had A♦10♦ for turned trips, while the player in the small blind said he had KxQx for the busted open-ended straight draw.
