Bryce Yockey waited seven years to win his second World Series of Poker bracelet when he took down the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event earlier this series. His quest for a third might be a lot shorter.
Yockey ended Day 1 of Event #29: $10,000 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw Championship among the chip leaders with 213,000. He’s joined atop the leaderboard by fellow bracelet winners Naoya Kihara (237,000), Calvin Anderson (210,500), and Jason Mercier (206,500) as 65 players will return tomorrow.

Defending champion Benny Glaser also advanced to Day 2 with 195,500, as did Bin Weng (196,500), Chino Rheem (175,500), Jeremy Ausmus (175,000), Chad Eveslage (162,500), and Nacho Barbero (155,000). Further down the leaderboard are Allen Kessler (123,500), Eric Wasserson (115,000), Paul Volpe (95,000), last year’s runner-up Oscar Johansson (82,500), and Yuri Dzivielevski (51,000).
A total of 125 players entered over the course of the day, putting the event on pace to surpass last year’s field of 130 with late registration still open for the first hour of Day 2. Among the players to miss out on bagging up for the night were Daniel Negreanu, Mike Matusow, Dylan Weisman, and Scott Seiver.
Day 2 resumes tomorrow (June 11) at 1 p.m. local time inside the Horseshoe Event Center. The action picks up on Level 10 with blinds of 1,500-3,000 and 3,000-6,000 limits. Levels 10-13 will be 60 minutes long before extending to 90 minutes with Level 14. Play will last eight levels on Day 2 before a champion is crowned on June 12.

Eric Wasserson raised in the cutoff and was called by Hal Rotholz on the button and Nacho Barbero in the big blind.
All three players drew two and Barbero led out with a bet. Wasserson and Rotholz both called.
Barbero and Rotholz then drew one while Wasserson took two. Wasserson then bet, Rotholz folded, and Barbero called.
Wasserson stood pat and Barbero took one. Barbero led out with a bet, sending Wasserson deep into the tank.
He spent more than a minute shuffling his cards in his hand and muttering to himself before mucking. Barbero showed him an 8-6 as he took the pot.

Tournament officials announced that players will see five more hands tonight before bagging up for Day 2.

Warwick Mirzikinian bet from the big blind on the first draw and Benny Glaser called on the button.
Mirzikinian stood pat and Glaser took one. Mirzikinian then bet and Glaser called.
Mirzikinian again patted the last draw and Glaser drew one more. Both players checked and Mirzikinian showed 8x7x5x4x3x to win the pot.
At the same time at another table, Nacho Barbero won a pot and called out to Chino Rheem to tell him about it.
"Hey Chino, I just won the best pot. I was dealt a wheel and got many bets in," Barbero said.
"He's running bad, though," a tablemate added.
"I'm running so bad. I haven't won a tournament in forever. Like two months," Barbero replied.

Bin Weng opened from the hijack, Chino Rheem three-bet from the button and Weng put in a four-bet that was called by Rheem. Weng drew one while Rheem drew two.
After the first draw Rheem called a bet from Weng and drew one while Weng stood pat.
Weng bet again after the second draw and was called by Rheem. Once again Weng stood pat while Rheem drew one.
With no draws remaining Weng bet once more and Rheem's hand hit the muck.

Anthony Lazar raised under the gun before Justin Saliba reraised in the cutoff. Renan Bruschi put in another raise on the button, big blind Patrick Moulder called, as did Lazar and Saliba.
Moulder, Saliba, and Bruschi drew one while Lazar took two. Action checked to Bruschi who bet, and Moulder raised.
Lazar called, Saliba folded, and Bruschi called. Moulder stood pat, as did Bruschi, while Lazar drew one. Moulder then bet and both opponents called.
Moulder and Bruschi stood pat again on the last draw while Lazar took one. All three players checked and Bruschi showed 8x6x5x3x2x. Moulder and Lazar both mucked.
"Big pot," Bruschi said as he raked in the chips.
