Urbanovich Wins Showdown Pot Off Arieh

Nível 12

Razz

Josh Arieh: XxXx / 5x2xJx9x / Xx
Dzmitry Urbanovich: XxXx / 10x6xAx9x / Xx

Josh Arieh completed to get called by Dzmitry Urbanovich, who then called a bet by Arieh on fourth street. Holding the lead on fifth street, Urbanovich bet and Arieh called. They then checked down sixth and seventh street for Urbanovich to show the Jx9x4x for a ten-nine.

Arieh checked his cards twice and briefly exposed two of them before he grabbed all seven and flung them with force face down into the middle of the table.

While the hand concluded, Daniel Weiman walked out of the tournament area and past the table. "You are done?" Weinman was asked and he nodded before another question came. "Back to golf?" they asked and Weinman confirmed.

On his former table, Phil Ivey soared to a bigger stack and may make a run for the chip lead on Day 2.

"I'll Be Back"; Cates Tournament Life Terminated

Dan Terminator Cates
Dan Terminator Cates

Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

After Daniel Alaei raised in the hijack, a short-stacked Dan Cates put in a three-bet on the button, then reached for his phone and began playing the theme song from "The Terminator".

Action returned to Alaei who called and then drew two, while Cates stood pat. Alaei still bet and Cates put his final bet in the middle.

Alaei still drew two on the second draw while Cates remained pat. On the final draw however, Alaei patted his hand, which sent the defending champion "Tournamen-ator" into the tank for a couple of minutes, while the dramatic theme music accompanied his imminent decision.

Cates opted to break his hand and draw one but it wouldn't matter. Alaei showed 7x5x4x3x2x for a wheel to eliminate Cates who of course uttered the famous parting words, "I'll be back" as he left the tournament floor.

Pot-Limit Omaha

Koray Aldemir had previously nearly doubled and then won a pot without showdown when Talal Shakerchi check-folded the K75Q8 river to a bet worth 125,000 by Aldemir.

One hand later, John Monnette opened to 30,000 in the cutoff and Shakerchi instantly called out of the big blind when it was his turn. They checked the 973 flop and Shakerchi's bet of 50,000 on the 5 turn won the pot without resistance.

Omaha Hi-Lo

One table over, Josh Arieh raised and called a three-bet by Marco Johnson as they headed to the QJ6 flop. Johnson check-called a bet and led the 5 turn, Arieh raised and Johnson moved all-in for Arieh to call.

Marco Johnson: AJ53
Josh Arieh: AK42

"Alright, let's pair the board," Johnson mentioned in table chat. He was also happy with the 2 river as his two pair and nut low earned a full double for 158,000 in total.

Scott Seiver had completed but folded when Hal Rotholz raised and Phil Hellmuth made it three bets, while Rotholz stuck around. Hellmuth then bet his lead from fourth to sixth street before he opted to check seventh street. Rotholz checked behind and Hellmuth announced a number two, turning over the 4x3xAx to win the pot.

One table over, Dan Cates earned a double for 48,000 in a Stud Hi-Lo hand against Freddy Deeb when his pair of eights was good enough against an inferior pair and missed low draw.

Yuri Dzivielevski
Yuri Dzivielevski

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Last year's runner-up Yuri Dzivielevski has been eliminated at the hands of Daniel Alaei.

After a raise from Yuri Dzivielevski in the cutoff, Daniel Alaei three-bet to 75,000 out of the small blind. Dzivielevski thought for a bit and then moved all in for 323,000.

Alaei thought briefly as well and then made the call. Each player drew one and revealed what they were drawing to.

Yuri Dzivielevski: 9x7x6x2x/Xx
Daniel Alaei: 8x5x3x2x/Xx

Alaei was first to reveal his draw, peeling a 9x, meaning that Dzivielevski needed a five, four, or three to survive.

Instead he peeled a Jx, ending his day, while sending a pot to Alaei that puts him amidst the chip leaders.

Aldemir Sends Glantz to the Rail

Nível 12

Omaha Hi-Lo

Action was picked up on the turn where Koray Aldemir put out a bet on a board of J7410. Matt Glantz was already all in and a third player in the hand folded.

Glantz and Aldemir tabled their hands with Glantz at risk:

Matt Glantz: 6543
Koray Aldemir: A733

The river was the 2, giving Aldemir a pair of sevens and the nut low for the scoop. Glantz couldn't beat either half and was eliminated.

Jonathan Cohen moved his last 103,000 chips in from the cutoff and got a call from Phil Ivey in the big blind.

Jonathan Cohen: 1010
Phil Ivey: A3

Cohen's tens were in good shape until the flop came A58, pairing Ivey's ace.

The 9 turn and J river couldn't save Cohen sending him and his pup home in the final level of the day.

Deeb Chips Up; Cates Short Once More

Nível 12
Freddy Deeb
Freddy Deeb

Limit Hold'em

Cary Katz couldn't get rid of Daniel Alaei when they checked down eventually on the 99347 river. Katz exposed his AK but Alaei had that beat with the A3, after which Katz joked "you own me".

Dan Cates then raised from under the gun and received three callers in Freddy Deeb out of the hijack, Katz on the button and James Obst in the big blind. The K92 flop was checked to Cates and he bet. Deeb raised and Katz made it three bets to force out Obst and Cates, while Deeb stuck around.

The 8 turn was checked and Deeb's bet was barely moved forward when Katz snap-folded the QJ face-up.

Alaei then raised on the button for Cates to defend the big blind but the defending champion quickly heck-folded the KQ4 flop to a continuation bet.

While Cates was left short, Michael Noori ran out of chips on an adjacent table to reduce the field to the last 39 contenders.

Pot-Limit Omaha

On the tail end of a three-way pot to the Q325Q river, Dan Cates bet 75,000 out of the big blind. He was called by Daniel Weinman from under the gun and Cary Katz tanked for a while before he also called.

In what seemed rather bizarre fashion, Cates and Weinman were ready to toss their cards into the muck and then did so momentarily when Katz revealed his AKQ9 for trips queens.

"You are the last to call and they already muck their cards," Daniel Alaei in the one seat grinned and joked towards Katz.
