2023 World Series of Poker
Daniel Negreanu was all in for around 30,000 from the big blind and up against button Kevin Rabichow.
Daniel Negreanu: A♠J♠
Kevin Rabichow: Q♠J♣
Negreanu had Rabichow dominated heading to the 2♣Q♦10♣ flop, which gave Rabichow top pair and Negreanu a straight draw. The 9♥ on the turn added some outs for Negreanu to stay alive.
"Eight or a king," Negreanu said, his camera up and running. The dealer turned over the K♠ on the river and Negreanu made his straight to survive.
"2023 is a new year," an exuberant Negreanu said. Rabichow was still smiling as he handed over the pot. "His mental game is on point. Took it like a champ," Negreanu added, pointing his camera at his defeated opponent.
"Was it a flip," Cary Katz asked from another table.
"Ace-jack against queen-jack, so yes," Negreanu replied.
After James Chen checked a 2♣A♦J♥Q♥9♣ board from the small blind, Jesse Lonis bet 78,000 from his 270,000 stack. Chen put in the all-in check raise, which put Lonis deep in the tank. Lonis expended all five time banks in front of him, eventually calling with ten seconds left on the time clock.
Chen revealed K♣10♦ for the turned straight, beating Lonis' A♣Q♣ two pair.
There was already around 130,000 in the middle as Biao Ding and Matt Berkey went heads-up to the river on a board of 7♥4♦8♣10♦3♥. Ding, in the small blind, used up a time bank and tanked for nearly a minute before he shoved all in for 93,000.
Now it was Berkey's turn to tank as he used up a time bank chip. Berkey eventually decided to muck as Ding raked in the big pot.
Nível: 4
Blinds: 1,500/3,000
Ante: 3,000
With around 25,000 in the pot, Weiran Pu bet 13,000 from the hijack on a board of 5♣9♠10♠8♣ and Justin Young called on the button.
The river came the K♥ and Pu fired out 26,500. Young quickly took a last peek at his cards and nodded his head before mucking. "Too good," he told Pu, who is wearing a large pair of sunglasses, after the hand.
"You can see his cards in his sunglasses," tablemate Adam Hendrix added.
"You could totally see his cards," Young replied. "I'm going to test it out this hand. Look at your cards," he continued as Pu silently dragged in the pot.
Staring down a J♣2♣2♠ flop, Artur Martirosian bet 17,000 from the cutoff into a 50,000 pot. Aram Oganyan put in an all-in reraise to 90,000. Martirosian called and tabled 7♦7♠. Oganyan turned over K♣K♥ and joked, 'It's always coming a seven."
But his fears were unfounded on this occasion, as the board ran out 5♦ 9♥ and he doubled up to 220,000.
With around 23,000 in the pot on a board of 4♣2♣5♥10♦, Brock Wilson bet 20,000 from the cutoff and an opponent under the gun called.
The river came the 9♠ and action checked to Wilson, who tossed in four green 25,000 chips, a bet enough to put his opponent all in.
The under-the-gun player used up several of his time banks and tanked for more than two minutes before he stuck in his last chips. Wilson turned over 5♣5♠ for a set and his opponent flashed K♦K♥ before getting up from his seat.
"Full house, flush every hand it feels like," tablemate Pedro Bromfman said as Wilson raked in the pot to climb over 400,000.
A player in the cutoff was all in for around 60,000 and Weiran Pu called in the big blind to put him at risk.
Cutoff: 7♣7♠
Weiran Pu: A♠K♣
Pu hit top pair on the A♥7♥10♦, but his opponent made a set and was a big favorite to double up. The 10♠ turn gave Pu some outs heading to the river, which came the A♦ as the table let out a collective gasp after Pu made a full house.
The all-in player could only smile and tell Pu "good hand" before gathering his things and heading for the rail.
Heads-up on a board of J♣A♦A♠2♣ and around 50,000 in the pot, Chris Hunichen bet 17,000 from the small blind and Masashi Oya called on the button.
The river came the A♣ and Hunichen bet out another 15,000. Oya reluctantly tossed in the chips to call.
Hunichen hovered his cards over the muck as Oya showed K♠J♥ for a full house to take the pot.
