Schindler Shuts Down Schutten, Rises Toward Top

Nível 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Jake Schindler
Jake Schindler

On a flop of {6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} Jake Schindler bet around 100,000 and was called by Brekstyn Schutten. The turn came the {2-Spades}. Schindler fired again, this time for 225,000 and Schutten again came along with a fairly quick call.

The river was the {k-Diamonds} and Schindler applied maximum pressure announcing all in which was for all of Schutten's chips. Schutten leaned back and exhaled but tossed in the one chip call after a couple of seconds. Schindler flipped over the {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for flopped trips and Schutten mucked his hand in disgust with his tournament ended abruptly on Day 4, while Schindler is now among the chip leaders of the Main Event.

Manole Busts James in Battle of 888poker Qualifiers

Nível 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Mihai Manole
Mihai Manole

Jason James raised on the button and Mihai Manole defended his big blind to see a {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop, which brought a check by Manole, a continuation bet of James and a call.

Both checked the {7-Spades} turn and Manole also checked the {10-Spades} on the river. James now bet 75,000 and Manole jammed to send James into the think tank. He had around 300,000 behind and called it off after two minutes of consideration.

Manole turned over {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the straight and James ended up second-best with {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for two pair.

Furth Picks Up Three Premiums in a Row

Nível 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Caleb Furth
Caleb Furth

There was a raise to 20,000 in early position and Caleb Furth just called in middle position. The button three-bet to 85,000 and the initial raiser folded. Furth stuck in a four-bet to 235,000 and the button called.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Furth led out for 135,000. His opponent called and the {6-Hearts} paired the board on the turn. Furth fired out another 280,000 and the button still called. The river brought the {7-Hearts} and with over one million in the pot already, both players decided to knuckle the table. Furth showed {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} for a flush and his opponent mucked his cards.

In the next hand, Furth opened to 22,000 and everyone folded. Furth flashed {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} as he picked up the blinds and ante. Following that, Furth raised to 22,000 again and was called by the player on his left.

The flop came {j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Furth check-called a bet of 32,000 on the flop and then another 105,000 on the {k-Clubs} turn. The river was the {k-Hearts} and both players checked. Furth tabled {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} for two pair and picked up another pot.

Gus Hansen

Level 17 has completed with just 688 players remaining and 598 hopefuls already headed to the payout desk in the first two levels of the day. When they return to action, they will resume in Level 18 with blinds of 6,000/12,000 and a 12,000 big blind ante.

Here’s a look at some recent highlights from the tables:

Moneymaker Won't Be Winning Another Main Event

Nível 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

Chris Moneymaker's first Main Event cash since winning it in 2003 won't be anywhere close to what he might have been hoping for at the start of the day. Moneymaker was seen shaking hands at his table, with the ESPN camera crew also swarming the table at the same time. Unfortunately for Moneymaker, he fell at the hand of Ron West who was kind enough to relay what had happened:

Moneymaker had raised from the middle position with {q-}{j-} and West called on the button with {10-}{10-}.

The flop came {k-}{10-}{3-} with two clubs, Moneymaker check-shoved for around 250,000 when West had continued with a bet of 37,000 and West called.

No further help came on the board for Moneymaker and the former Champion was sent to the payout desk.

(Hand details relayed to PokerNews)

A player in middle position raised to 25,000, Chris Hunichen three-bet to 88,000 from the next seat over, David Guay four-bet to 240,000 from the small blind, the initial raiser folded and Hunichen called.

They checked to the turn of a {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs} board where Guay bet 330,000. Hunichen called.

The river was the {6-Clubs}, Guay shoved for 664,000 and Hunichen went into the tank for a while.

"So sick," said Hunichen. "Feels like you have queens."

Eventually, Guay called the clock and Hunichen called as time was expiring.

Guay tabled {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a set of tens, besting Hunichen's {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} to win what is the biggest pot of the Main Event to this point.
