Katz Set to Double-Dip Main Event and $50,000 Final Fifty

Nível 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Cary Katz
Cary Katz

Cary Katz came into Day 4 of the Main Event with just 40,000 at 3,000/6,000, good enough for just over six big blinds. However, he's managed to spin that up to over 500,000 before the end of the first level.

There's a catch though. Last night, Katz also managed to bag 310,000 in the $50,000 Final Fifty, and 44 players will return for Day 2 in that event at 4 p.m.

No doubt we will see echoes of Shaun Deeb and other players who have run between events if Katz continues his good run at the WSOP today.

The player in the middle position raised to 18,000 and Mike Matusow defended his big blind.

The flop came {3-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, Matusow check-called the 16,000 continuation-bet of his opponent.

They then both checked through the {q-Hearts} on the turn to the {7-Hearts} on the river. Matusow bet 35,000 and that was enough to pick up the pot.

Fayant Finds a Double

Nível 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Jody Fayant
Jody Fayant

Jody Fayant was all in for 85,000 from the button over an under-the-gun open to 18,000. The blinds folded and the original opener quickly put in the rest of the chips to call.

Jody Fayant: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Fayant had found himself delivering a potential cooler situation with the opportunity to double up and it was fulfilled when the board ran out {2-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, giving him life again as he found himself back above the 175,000 with which he entered the day.

Davis Doubles Through Astedt

Nível 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

On a {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} with over 100,000 chips in the middle already, Niklas Astedt checked to Matthew Davis who bet 62,000. Astedt check-raised all in and Davis took a moment before calling for his last 440,000.

Niklas Astedt: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Matthew Davis: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

The turn was the {8-Spades} and the river the {6-Spades} as Astedt's flush draw bricked and Davis doubled to around a million in chips.

The dealer spread a flop of {k-Spades}{q-Spades}{3-Hearts}, Josephy checked, Hansen fired out 24,000 and Luo called before Josephy mucked his hand.

On the {8-Hearts} turn, Hansen took about 15-seconds to measure out a bet of 65,000 and Luo's cards hit the muck.
