Most Level 1 Fun Currently at Table 513

In an Amazon Room notable for its current rather intense chip-riffling quiet, Blair Hinkle found himself in Seat 5 at the most mirthful table of Day 1d so far. Donald Grant, Thomas Conlin and Hinkle are sat in a row and seem to be laughing their way through Level 1. There are pauses, when chips fly into pots, however; just now Hinkle opened in mid position to 600, called by Nakia Davis in position and small blind Nathan Schleifer.

The {k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop was checked round, bringing the {4-Diamonds} on the turn. Now Hinkle led out for 1,000, raised to 2,000 by Davis. He made the call and the {3-Diamonds} fell on the river. Hinkle checked to Davis, who quickly bet 3,000. Hinkle folded and the banter continued, this time at the expense of Dustin Kern who expressed surprise at his free drink.

“You’re playing a $500 tournament and you get excited about a free Redbull?”

“You know, you don’t expect it in tournaments…”

“I’m so happy for you!”

Nickle Wins Big Pot With Full Boat

Nível 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

Big action was developing in a four-way pot early in level 1 on a board that read {7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades}. A bet of 3,000 had been raised to 8,000. Action was on Sheila Nickle; who thought for a moment and re-raised to 20,000. The player behind quickly folded, as did the original 3,000 bettor.

Seat 3 thought for a minute and made the call. But he was beat as Sheila Nickel showed the {9-Clubs}{7-Spades} for the winning full house to give her a nice large pot early.

And we’re off! Day 1d of this truly gargantuan event has begun with a total of 24,000 entrants already in the overall field. So says Jack Effel, who took to the stage just now to welcome today’s horde.

“Everybody wants to be together today,” he said, “Everybody wants to play the Big 50. Don’t worry, we’re going to get you in, we got in 2,000 late registrations yesterday and we’re expecting 3,000 probably today.” With late registration open until the dinner break (now scheduled for the end of Level 10 – a change from the initial structure sheet) it looks like the crowd of Day 1d hopefuls not yet in seats will all get a chance to play.

Welcome to Day 1d of Event #3: BIG 50 - $500 No-Limit Hold'em! Today marks the fourth and final opening flight of this very special event on this year's WSOP calendar. Just like Day 1c, today’s 1d flight is sold out and will add yet another large chunk of entries to an already gargantuan field. It is expected that today’s entries will make the BIG 50 the largest live poker tournament in history, surpassing the 2015 WSOP Colossus event.

Day 1c ended late last night with John Utley accumulating the largest stack of the day with 830,000. He joined the triumvirate of opening flight chip leaders along with, Cosimo Bisogno, who finished Day 1a with 932,000 and Alexander Kartveli, who ended with 892,000 on Day 1b.

A few of the notable players who bagged chips on Day 1c were 2018 WSOP Player of the Year Shaun Deeb (252,000), 2006 Main Event Champion Jamie Gold (135,000) and Allen Kessler (112,000).

The format for Day 1d is the same as the previous days with a $500 buy-in getting you 50,000 chips. There will be 20-minute breaks every two levels with a 75-minute dinner break after Level 8 (Approximately 5:40 p.m.). Players are allowed to re-enter this event once per flight, and late registration and re-entry are open until the start of Level 11 (around 8:55 p.m.).

Many of poker’s biggest names, rising stars and hopeful dreamers alike will descend upon the Rio today for their last chance to bag a Day 2 stack. Action will begin at 10 a.m. and those who remain at the end of the day’s scheduled 12 levels of play will come back at 10 am on Tuesday June 4th for Day 2d.
