Friedman and Kessler Both Take a Small Hit from Hila Elezra

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Perry Friedman: {x-}{x-}/{3-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}/{x-}
Hila Elezra: {x-}{x-}/{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}/{x-}
Allen Kessler: {x-}{x-}/{A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} — Folded on fifth
Opponent: {x-}{x-}/{A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{2-Diamonds} — Folded of fifth

Allen Kessler completed and he was called by three players including Perry Friedman and Hila Elezra, who is the wife of Eli Elezra, also in the tournament.

On fourth, action checked to Elezra and she bet. All three of her opponents called. On fifth, Elezra bet again but this time only Friedman called.

On sixth street, Elezra one more time and Friedman called one more time. Friedman called one final bet on seventh street, but he was shown {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for a pair and a low. It was good enough to take down the pot so Friedman sent over the chips, leaving himself with right around 15,000. Elezra took down the pot and chipped up to 15,000.

Her husband, Eli, mentioned that Hila only plays one tournament every year, and she's been chugging along so far, making through the first nine levels of the day.

Deeb Makes a Strong Board

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Shaun Deeb was firing against Ben Yu when we got to their table with Deeb catching good twice and making a scary board.

Deeb: {x-}{x-}/{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Yu: {x-}{x-}/{2-Diamonds}{q-}{2-}

Yu picked up a pair but it wasn't enough to convince him to continue as Deeb had three to a low straight flush.

Updated Chip Counts

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Savage Scoops

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Matt Savage: {x-}{x-}/{2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}/{x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-}/{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}/{x-}

Picking up the action on seventh street, Matt Savage and his lone opponent had multiple bets out in front of them. Savage decided to lead on the river with one more bet and his opponent sighed, then called.

Savage shook his head then turned over {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{A-Clubs} possibly thinking he was beat or chopping, but to his surprise, his opponent mucked and that allowed Savage to take down the whole pot, chipping up over 15,000 chips.

Clements Loses a Bunch

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante
David Bach
David Bach

Scott Clements and David Bach were two parties in one of the biggest pots of the day. It went three ways down to the river and the amount of raising and reraising built a mountain in the middle.

It started early as fourth street saw Clements bet into a field of three opponents with {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Bradley Sullivan called, a player in Seat 7 raised, David Bach cold-called and Clements made it three bets. Sullivan got out of the way and the other two stuck around.

It got even crazier on fifth street as Clements caught low and bet again, with the next player calling, Bach raising, Clements making it three bets and Bach making it four. Everyone went to sixth.

Clements: {x-}{x-}/{a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Sullivan: {x-}{x-}/{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds} (folded on fourth street)
Seat 7: {x-}{x-}/{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Bach: {x-}{x-}/{7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

This time, things slowed down as Bach bet and the others called. On the end, though, it got wild again as Clements bet out, the next player called and Bach raised. Clements made it three bets and the others called.

Clements had {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for an ace-high flush. However, Bach had a better ace-high flush with {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} in the hole for ace-king high. The third player had made a low and he took half of the pot, so Clements came out as the player taking a big hit.

One Rises While Many Fall

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Phil Ivey has recently joined the field while the likes of Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth are nowhere to be seen among others who have fallen over the course of the day.

Ramdin Survives With Chop

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Victor Ramdin got his remaining chips in there in a three-way pot against Calvin Anderson and one other player. Anderson bet the final two streets heads up to create a side pot.

Ramdin: {3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}/{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}
Anderson: {6-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}/{6-Spades}{k-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Spades}
Third player: {6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades}/{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Ramdin's seven-perfect was good for the low and Anderson took the high with just sixes, chopping the side pot with the eight-low.

Ross Squeaks Out a Double With a Wheel

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

A player completed showing a {6-Hearts} after Mike Ross brought in with the {4-Clubs}. Ross raised over the top to get it all in and the other player called. There boards ran out as follows.

Mike Ross: {2-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}/{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}{A-Spades}
Opponent: {3-Spades}{6-Clubs}/{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

Ross' opponent showed seventh first, showing the {K-Spades} meaning that Ross would somehow have to beat two pair in order to survive. And Ross peeled his final card.

"How about a wheel!" Ross said, showing his {3-Clubs}. That gave him a straight and a low and allowed him to take down the pot to fully double.

"I'm glad I didn't complete," Ron Ware said after the hand, laughing.
