Cunningham Won't Notch His 7th WSOP Main Event Cash

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Allen Cunningham
Allen Cunningham

We missed the elimination of Allen Cunningham, which happened at the end of Level 15, but we were able to gather some details after the fact.

According to Jeff Madsen, he opened for 6,500 from middle position holding {4-}{4-} and Cunningham called from the small blind. David Feldman then three-bet to 29,000 from the big, Madsen called, and Cunningham tanked for a bit before four-betting all in. Feldman made the call and Madsen got out of the way.

Cunningham: {q-}{q-}
Feldman: {a-}{a-}

Cunningham, who has six Main Event cashes including a fourth-place finish in 2006 for $3,628,513, was dominated, and he received no reprieve as the board ran out a dry {4-}{5-}{6-}{9-}{5-}. With that, the man who ranks 17th on the All-Time Money List exited the 2014 WSOP Main Event just shy of a payday.

Ohel Pays Off Big Zaichenko River Bet

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We found Randy Ohel agonizing over a wager of 95,000 from Andrey Zaichenko, who was in the big blind on a board of {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Ohel ultimately opted to call, and Zaichenko showed him {q-Spades}{10-Hearts} for tens full and the chips were shipped his way.

Burt Doubles Through Townsend

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Action folded around to Timothy Burt on the button and he made it 10,000 to go. Brian Townsend moved all in from the small blind and the big blind folded. Action was back on Burt for his tournament life and he went deep into the tank.

Eventually, the clock was called and Burt was given 60 seconds to act on his hand. As the time wound down, Burt finally dropped out a call for his last 173,500.

Burt rolled over {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and was in a dominating position against Townsend's {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}. The board came down {2-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, ensuring that Burt's cowboys would hold as the best hand. He now has about 360,000 in chips to Townsend's 255,000.

Hutter Will Not Be Shown the Money

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Barry Hutter
Barry Hutter

We missed how the hand unfolded, but we do know that Barry Hutter got his stack of 185,000 all in on a flop of {7-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. He had flopped top pair with the {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, but it was no good as Jay Goldenberg held {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}.

Hutter needed some help, and while the {K-Diamonds} turn was paint, it wasn't what he was looking for. Hutter needed either a queen or jack on the river to survive, but it was not meant to be as the {2-Diamonds} blanked. A disappointed Hutter made a hasty exit from the Amazon Tan section nine spots shy of the money.

Jaka and Liporace Clash

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Start-of-day chip leader Andrew Liporace opened to 10,000 in middle position and Faraz Jaka three-bet to 30,000 from the small blind with about 95,000 behind. Liporace went into the tank for about two minutes before he opted to fold.

Alaei Shoves

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Daniel Alaei opened with a raise only to have Gaetano Preite three-bet from the small blind to 31,500. When the action came back to Alaei, he moved all in for 182,000 to put Preite to a decision.

Preite tanked for several minutes before eventually folding and slipping to 330,000 as Alaei climbed to 223,000 in chips.

Ivey Sets the Trap, Keranen Doesn't Bite

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Jing Wang opened to 12,000 from under the gun, Kyle Keranan three-bet to 29,000 from middle position, and action folded over to Phil Ivey in the big blind. He thought it over for a moment before cutting out enough chips for a call and tossed them into the pot. Wang folded, and Keranen and Ivey went to the flop which came {7-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

Ivey checked, Keranen bet 24,000, and Ivey called. Both players then checked the {10-Spades} on the turn, bringing the {K-Spades} on the river. Ivey quickly tapped the table and Keranen checked behind. Ivey rolled over the {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} for a rivered set, and Keranen stared at the board for a few seconds before mucking his hand.

Double Clock

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Christos Papulis raised to 11,000 on the button, and Jolmer Meelis went into the tank out of the small blind. The Dutchman — sitting with a stack of 38,500 — tanked for several minutes before the clock was called on him, and he subsequently allowed the clock to expire, killing his hand.

The next player to act was Ryan Tepen with 44,500 left, and he tanked for a long enough time for the clock to be called on him as well. Unlike Meelis, Tepen moved all in with one second remaining on his clock, confusing Papulis.

He tank-folded, and Tepen was pushed the pot.

Aces Twice For Garcia

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

"Don't do it to me dealer!" yelled William Garcia after shoving for about 77,000 from under the gun. The table folded and Garcia tabled {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}.

"Two out of three hands with aces," Garcia told us after the hands. "Didn't want to play any hands but wow!"
