McLaughlin Picks Up Some from Ponakovs

Nível 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Aleksejs Ponakovs opened for 175,000 from middle position and picked up a couple of callers — Marc McLaughlin (button) and Alexander Livingston (big blind). The first three community cards came {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Livingston checked, and Ponakovs fired 225,000 into the middle. McLaughlin called the bet, then Livingston stepped aside.

The turn was the {2-Hearts}. This time Ponakovs checked and watched as McLaughlin set out a bet of 355,000. Ponakovs called McLaughlin's bet, then after the {9-Spades} fell on the river he checked once more. McLaughlin took the opening to bet again — 740,000 — and Ponakovs decided to fold his hand.

Maxx Coleman
Maxx Coleman

Sergio Castelluccio opened for the minimum with a raise to 160,000 from the hijack seat and got a single caller in Maxx Coleman playing from the big blind.

The flop came {8-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}, and when Coleman checked, Castelluccio bet 150,000 and Coleman called. The turn brought the {6-Diamonds}, and Coleman checked again. Castelluccio fired 275,000 this time, and after thinking for a while Coleman called once more.

The pair then checked down the {7-Clubs} river card. Coleman flipped over {A-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for two pair, and Castelluccio mucked.

Three's Company

Nível 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Jason Mann raised to 180,000 in middle position, James Alexander called in the cutoff, and Sylvain Loosli three-bet to 680,000 out of the big blind. Only Alexander called.

The dealer spread {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, both players checked, and the turn brought the {7-Clubs}. Loosli led out for 585,000, and Alexander quickly called.

The {2-Diamonds} completed the board, both players knuckled again, and Loosli showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for ace-high. Alexander tabled {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a pair of threes, winning the pot.

Tran Shows a Set

Nível 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

JC Tran raised to 170,000, and he got callers on the button and the small blind, Jorn Walthaus and Yevgeniy Timoshenko respectively. The flop came a raggedy {4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, and the first two players checked to Walthaus, who bet 310,000. Tran called, Timoshenko folded. Both players checked the {q-Spades} turn, and Tran bet out 400,000 on the {7-Diamonds} river. Walthaus called.

Tran turned over {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a flopped set, and he dragged the pot.

Fabian Ortiz
Fabian Ortiz

Fabian Ortiz raised to 200,000 from under the gun, Sergio Castelluccio called on the button, and the flop fell {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Ortiz check-called a bet of 200,000, and the turn brought the {10-Spades}.

Ortiz checked, Castelluccio fired out 450,000, and Ortiz snap-called.

The river was the {6-Clubs}, Ortiz checked a third and final time, Castelluccio bet 600,000, and Ortiz immediately called. Castelluccio tabled {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a set of eights, but it was no good against Ortiz's {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for an ace-queen-high flush.

More for Morgenstern

Nível 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Anton Morgenstern continues to enjoy a very profitable Level 28. He just won another pot — again without having to show a hand — and has now pushed up over 17 million.

This one began with a Morgenstern raise to 175,000 from the hijack seat, followed by a reraise to 510,000 by Michiel Brummelhuis from the small blind. Morgenstern called the three-bet, then watched as the flop came {7-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

Brummelhuis led with a bet of 650,000, but Morgenstern responded with an all-in shove and Brummelhuis had to let his hand go.

Castelluccio Makes a Pair

Nível 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Sergio Castelluccio raised to 160,000 from under the gun, and Dan Owen called in the small blind. Owen check-called a bet of 140,000 on a flop of {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, and both players knuckled when the {5-Clubs} turned.

The {10-Clubs} completed the board, Owen checked a third time, and Castelluccio fired out 500,000. Owen tank-called.

Castelluccio showed {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of tens, and Owen mucked his hand.

Somar Al-Darwich Eliminated in 38th Place ($185,694)

Nível 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Somar Al-Darwich - 38th Place
Somar Al-Darwich - 38th Place

Somar Al-Darwich open-raised all in from middle position for his last 490,000 and it folded to Jason Mann in the big blind who called. Al-Darwich showed {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts} while Mann had {K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. The flop came {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, and Al-Darwich still needed improvement. The {10-Diamonds} then came on the turn to pair Mann, leaving Al-Darwich in need of a queen to survive.

Alas for Al-Darwich, fifth street brought the {A-Diamonds} and his Main Event run came to an end in 38th place.
