Let the March to the Money and a One Drop Champion Begin!

Martin Jacobson and Antonio Esfandiari are both looking for One Drop glory.
Martin Jacobson and Antonio Esfandiari are both looking for One Drop glory.

The 2013 World Series of Poker continues today with Day 3 of Event #47: $111,111 One Drop High Rollers No-Limit Hold'em. What began with 166 players is now down to the final 26, each looking to make the money at the top 24. That means two players will go home empty handed today as they look to not only burst the bubble, but play down to a winner.

One man who will more than likely earn a payday is Sweden's Martin Jacobson, who bagged the chip lead last night with 3,255,000. Others who will no doubt make the money and a run at the title are Connor Drinan, who is just behind Jacobson with 3,250,000; Day 1 chip leader Brandon Steven with 3,140,00; and East Coast legend Matt Glantz with 3,005,000.

Others look to make a splash are the winner of last year's Big One for One Drop Antonio Esfandiari (2,970,000) and Poker Hall of Famer Mike Sexton (740,000). Both men are looking to become the only players to cash in the One Drop event for two consecutive years (Esfandiari won last year's event for $18,346,673 while Sexton finished in ninth place for $1,109,333).

Others still in contention are 2013 WSOP bracelet winner Martin Finger (2,910,000), Bill Perkins (2,750,000), Phil Laak (1,760,000), Anthony "End Boss" Gregg (1,750,000), Shaun Deeb (1,215,000), and 2012 Octo-Niner Jeremy Ausmus (995,000).

Action is set to kick off at 1 p.m. PDT, which is about an hour from now. The plan is to play to a winner or ten levels, whichever may come first. Either way, the PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand to bring you all the action and eliminations from Day 3 of Event #47: $111,111 One Drop High Rollers No-Limit Hold'em, so stay tuned.

Kicking Things Off

Nível 21 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

The ESPN Main Stage, AKA "The Mothership," is being utilized here on Day 3. A brief opening ceremony was just held that saw tournament director Jack Effel welcome the players and both Caesars Interactive CEO Mitch Garber and One Drop CEO Catherine Bachand give brief speeches. At Garber's behest, Phil "The Unabomber" Laak then gave the traditional, "Shuffle up and deal!"

Before players took their seats, Lynn Gilmartin caught Mike Sexton, Matt Glantz and Andrew Lichtenberger for a chat:

Steven vs. Finger

Nível 21 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Brandon Steven raised to 135,000 under the gun and Martin Finger made the call from the hijack. The {3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{k-Clubs} flop saw Steven continue for 140,000, Finger call and the dealer burned and turn the {3-Diamonds}. Steven up the bet a bit to 320,000 but he couldn't shake the German.

After the {7-Clubs} peeled off on the river, both players checked and Steven showed {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Unfortunately for him it was no good as Finger held the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

Two Pair Bumps Greenberg Over Two Million

Nível 21 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

From under the gun, 2013 World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner Steve Gross opened with a raise to 120,000. Lawrence Greenberg called from the next seat in the hijack position, then action folded to Nick Schulman in the big blind. He tanked for a bit, then called to create a three-way pot to the flop.

On the {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop, Schulman checked first, then Gross fired 120,000. Greenberg raised to 250,000, and Schulman called. Gross then folded.

The turn was the {2-Hearts}, and both Schulman and Greenberg checked to see the {J-Hearts} fall on the river. Both players checked again.

Schulman showed the {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for top pair, but Greenberg's {A-Spades}{9-Spades} for two pair was the winner.

Sexton Shoves On Voulgaris's Open

Nível 21 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Haralabos Voulgaris raised to 135,000 from under the gun, and Mike Sexton reraised all in for 710,000 from the next seat. Play folded back to Voulgaris, and he went into the tank. Eventually, Voulgaris gave it up, and Sexton won the pot.

Pair of Kings for Glantz

Nível 21 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Daniel Alaei opened from under the gun plus one with a raise to 120,000. Matt Glantz called out of the big blind, and the flop came down {J-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Both players checked, and the turn was the {K-Diamonds}. After Glantz checked, Alaei bet 210,000. Glantz made the call. The river was the {3-Diamonds}, and both players checked.

Glantz showed the {K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, and Alaei mucked his hand.
