The Big Names Just Keep Coming

Nível 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

We are up to 345 players in this event and among them are some of the biggest names in the business.

Barry Greenstein has taken his seat and is going to have to contend with Eric Baldwin unless his table breaks (or one of them busts) while former November Nine member Antoine Saout is also preparing himself for another deep run.

Russian pro Andrey Pateychuk won European Poker Tour San Remo and World Poker Tour Prague main events in the space of a couple of months and is now in the hunt for a Triple Crown completing World Series of Poker bracelet.

Jeff Masden Obv

Nível 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

Jeff Madsen has bought into Event #46 and is now in the hunt for his fourth WSOP of his career and the second of the 2013 WSOP.

Last week, Madsen won the $3,000 Pot Limit Omaha event for a cool $384,420 and will be looking best that impressive score by the time this tournament ends. With 353 players already in the field and registration open for another 3.5 levels we could get near the 640 entrants that participated in Madsen's recent bracelet victory tournament.

Abecassis Takes it Down on the River

Nível 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

Ryan Laplante opened from under the gun and then called when Michel Abecassis three-bet to 400 from four four seats over. The pair shared a {4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop, a flop that both players checked. They then checked the {A-Hearts} turn and Laplante checked the {2-Hearts} river. Abecassis, who is in the middle of having a massage, bet 500 and Laplante folded.

Ohel and Giannetti Making Early Chops

Nível 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

On a board of {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} we caught up to Matt Giannetti and Randy Ohel in a pot. Giannetti had made a bet of 150 and Ohel had put in a reraise to 475. With action back on Giannetti, he reraised to 1150. Ohel thought about it for a bit, then called.

The river fell a {4-Diamonds} and Giannetti moved all in and was quickly called by Ohel.

"Ace, eight, three," Ohel said turning over his {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for the nut low and trip eights.

Giannetti rolled over his {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} for the second nut high, and {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for the rest of his hand, and the two chopped the pot with Ohel getting the low and Giannetti getting the high.

Rutter Loses Some Early Ground

Nível 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

The action folded around to British pro and all-round good guy Stuart Rutter on the button and he raised to 175. Ryan Laplante defended his big blind with a call, meaning it was heads up to the {9-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop.

Laplante led out for 125 only to see Rutter raise to 400. Laplante wasn't done with his hand yet; he re-raised to 725 and Rutter sent his own cards back to the dealer.

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

The tournament has become even more shark infested thanks to the arrivals of the players shown in the list below.

Owais Ahmed Winning While Winning

Owais Ahmed
Owais Ahmed

It was just announced here in the Amazon room that Owais Ahmed was the lucky winner of a free seat to Event #47: $111,111 One Drop High Rollers No-Limit Hold'em. Ahmed was able to claim the seat by signing up for an account of WSOP.com. Out of many who signed up Ahmed claimed the biggest seat in the drawing.

Ahmed is no stranger to high stakes play. Just two years ago he made the final table of the $50,000 Poker Players' Championship where he finished fourth for $482,058. Ahmed is also a bracelet winner as he claimed a bracelet two years ago in a $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo locking up $255,959. This year, Ahmed has a second place finish to Tom Schneider in $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. (Event #15) where he locked up $159,950.

After Ahmed was announced the winner of the seat, Mike Matusow stood up from his chair and began shouting across the room, "JUST DUMP YOUR CHIPS OFF OWAIS!"

We'll be following Ahmed's progress tomorrow in the One Drop High Rollers tomorrow so make sure you stay tuned in to PokerNews.com for all the updates.

Chop It Up for Mike Leah

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

On a flop of {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} Mike Leah got all his chips in against one other player.

Leah: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The two players had almost exactly the same hand and would be guaranteed to chop unless a queen, jack, or flush came in. The board bricked off though with a {5-Clubs} and an {8-Hearts} and that secured the chop for Leah and his opponent.
