Dia 1 Iniciado
Welcome to Day 1 of Event #36: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout.
Players will begin with 4,500 chips and they have one goal for today and that is to win their table. Every table winner will make the money and advance to Day 2. The tournament is capped at 2,000 players and registration is still open with play set to begin today at 12 p.m. in the Brasilia Room.
In last year’s event, Brandon Schaefer prevailed over 1,138 players and took home the first-place prize of $311,174 plus the gold bracelet. You can expect plenty of "bracelet hunting" professionals in the field today with live coverage of today's event happening right here at PokerNews.
While you are waiting for play to begin, here is your June 20th update from the 2013 WSOP:
The players are in their seats, and the cards are in the air.

These players are set up in the white section of the pavilion. Because the Brasilia room is full, we will be set up in here and will have limited updated from the pavilion, but we will be sure to check periodically and update how these guys are doing.

As we were perusing the aisles of the red section, we saw Ivan Demidov leaving his seat and the tournament area. It was a very short day for the former November-Niner. Here are some notable players from red that are still in their seats:

Taylor Paur just won his first WSOP bracelet early last week, and he's here in the shootout trying to win another. In a recent hand we caught, the player under the gun made it 175, and Paur raised it up to 450 in middle position. It got back to his opponent, and after about 45 seconds of thinking, he kicked his hand in.
While this was just a small pot, it's a good insight to Paur's play so far at the table, as he has already nearly doubled his starting stack, sitting on 8,200.
