No Day 2 for Dan Kelly

Nível 6 : 150/300, 0 ante

We didn't catch the hand that did him in, so it's hard for us to truly believe, but it looks like Dan "djk123" Kelly has actually busted on a Day 1. This is of course big news because Kelly has been on an absurd run at the 2013 WSOP so far. He has cashed eight times, which basically means that as soon as he has busted out of an event, he jumped into the next one and cashed in that as well. Well for once, the field can breathe easy, as the hottest player in the Rio is out of today's event.

A Mountain of Chips on Table 5

Nível 6 : 150/300, 0 ante

As we walked by the table in front of our desk, which is where Erick Lindgren is currently presiding, we saw that he had chips. A lot of chips. Double more then anyone we have seen so far. As we were attempting to count it, one of his table mates said "we have a mountain of chips over here!" Sure enough, when we were finished calculating it, we pegged Lindgren at 49,000, easily the chip lead in the whole room.

Players Busting Rapidly

Nível 6 : 150/300, 0 ante

As we were expecting, the players have been busting rather quickly, just like they did in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event a few days ago. We've already lost almost half the players in play before the dinner break, and the entire red section has broken. The bronze section only has 10 tables left, and there's a good chance most of them will be broken by dinner. The money has only been reached by end of Day 1 in a few events so far this series. Will this be another one?

New Champion in This Event

Nível 6 : 150/300, 0 ante

As we were walking through the silver section, we saw one player on the rail who looked like the defending champion of this event, Steven Loube. Sure enough, as we walked over, he cracked a joke "man win this event last year can't last four hours this year!" It looks like we will have a new champion this time around.

Payout Numbers

Nível 6 : 150/300, 0 ante

We've just been given the prize pool information. 936 players entered this event, down slightly from the 978 from last year's installment. 117 players will walk away with a padded wallet, as $2,400 is the first payout. The final 15 players will receive a five-figure payday, with the top prize earning $255,942. We will post all of the payouts shortly.

Ivey In, Ivey Out

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Well we were hoping to be front row for a show today as Phil Ivey sat down at the table right in front of us, but it only took him a few hands to bust. Ivey got the rest of his stack in on a {j-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{q-Hearts} flop. Ivey had a world of draws with {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{10-Hearts}, and his opponent Jordan Zynda held {a-}{q-}{2-}{3-} for trip queens. Ivey was looking for a nine, ten, king, or the case ace to win the hand, but none of those came, as the board ran down {4-Hearts} and {4-Clubs}.

With no afternoon event today, it looks like this is the last of Ivey we will see for the day.
