Salvatore Dicarlo Leads the Final 17; Mohsin Charania Not Far Behind

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Salvatore Dicarlo
Salvatore Dicarlo

198 players came back for Day 2 of Event #24, and they all had a bit of weight lifted off of their shoulders, as they knew they were in the money. As a result, we saw a flurry of bustouts that never slowed down throughout the day, as after ten levels of play, we had only 17 survivors. Leading the way is Salvatore Dicarlo (984,000), who doubled up into the chip lead on the final hand of the night.

Some of the notables who left us early on in the day included Jimmy Fricke (185th), AP Phahurat (166th), Tim Adams (126th), Brynn Kenney (115th), Sorel Mizzi (108th), and Darryll Fish (107th). Further up the final board, we lost Daniel Idema (47th), Paul Wasicka (31st), Shannon Shorr (30th), Sam Stein (23rd), and Victor Ramdin (22nd), and Kevin MacPhee (18th), who busted with 15 minutes left on the clock.

Despite losing this all-star list of players, we still have a couple notables who will come back to compete for the gold bracelet tomorrow. These players are Paul Splitzberg (957,000), Mohsin Charania (940,000), Zimnan Ziyard (461,000), Jacob Schindler (269,000), and Travell Thomas (254,000).

The 17 players have bagged and tagged for the night, and they will return tomorrow at 1 PM to battle it out for the title. As always, we will have the live coverage of the final day, including hand-for-hand updates from the final table. We hope to see you then, and good night from the desert!

Dicarlo Doubles to Chip Lead on Last Hand of Night

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

We thought that the night would end fairly quietly, until Salvatore Dicarlo and Arshin Gamini got into a huge preflop raising war that saw almost a million chips into the middle preflop. As is often the case late in tournaments, it was a coin flip to decide a huge pot.

Dicarlo: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Gamini: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Dicarlo thought the worst when Gamini called him off, but he was happy to see it was a race. He ended up surviving the whole board, which came {10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, and Dicarlo and his rail celebrated as he dragged the humongous pot to take the chip lead on the final hand of the night.

Kevin MacPhee Eliminated in 18th Place ($15,586)

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Kevin MacPhee
Kevin MacPhee

The tournament has lost Kevin MacPhee and we are down to 17 players in Event #24.

MacPhee was down to just three big blinds so when the action passed to him on the button it was no surprise that he moved all in. Daniel Cascardo called from the big blind to put MacPhee at risk of elimination.

MacPhee showed {J-}{8-} and Cascardo {Q-}{9-}. A queen and a nine on the flop left MacPhee drawing to a ten for a straight, but another queen on the turn left him drawing dead.

Thomas Doubles Through MacPhee

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Travell Thomas
Travell Thomas

Travell Thomas opened shipped all in for his last 130,000 from under the gun, and it folded around to Kevin MacPhee on the button. He thought for about 30 seconds before moving all in over the top, and the blinds got out of the way.

Thomas: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
MacPhee: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The flop was safe for MacPhee, coming down {6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}. However, the dealer quickly put the {q-Clubs} on the turn, giving Thomas the lead. He got an unnecessary two pair when the {a-Diamonds} hit the river, and Thomas doubled up to just under 300,000, while MacPhee was crippled down to just 70,000.

Teatum Doubles His Stack

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Paul Spitzberg opened from under the gun with a raise to 25,000. One player folded before Englishman Gareth Teatum moved all in for 100,000 exactly. Spitzberg called to put Teatum at risk.

Spitzberg: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Teatum: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

The five community cards fell {2-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts} to boost Teatum's stack to 220,000.

Chop it up

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Travell Thomas is disappointed after getting his chips in good against Salvatore Dicarlo but still having to chop the pot.

Dicarlo raised from late position and then called as Thomas shipped his stack into the middle from the cutoff. Dicarlo opened {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Thomas the dominating {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. By the river the board read {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and both players had two pair eights and fives with an ace kicker, meaning the pot was split.

Tsinis Terminated

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

We have lost another player and it is Arkadiy Tsinis who is the unfortunate soul heading towards the cashier's desk.

Again, the chips went into the middle preflop, Tsinis holding {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Daniel Cascado the superior {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. An ace on the {6-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{k-Hearts} flop put Cascado further in front and when the turn and river were the {6-Diamonds} and {3-Diamonds} it was game over for Tsinis.

We are now down to 18 in Event #24
