Right Call For Dicarlo

Nível 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Action folded to Robert Brewer in the small blind who just called. Salvatore Dicarlo checked his option from the big blind.

Both players checked on the {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop to the {8-Diamonds} on the turn. Brewer checked to Dicarlo on the turn who bet out 18,000. Brewer called.

The river was the {5-Hearts} and Brewer checked again. Dicarlo continued with a bet of 42,000 but was met with a raise from Brewer to 82,000. After thinking about it for a little bet, Dicarlo called.

Brewer announced that he had jack high, and Dicarlo turned over his {8-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for a pair of eights. Dicarlo scooped the pot and moved even higher up the leader board.

Joon Yi Eliminated in 16th Place ($15,586)

Joon Yi

We only caught the hands and the final board, but we do know that Joon Yi got the rest of his money in preflop holding {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. He was up against the {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} of Zimnan Ziyard, and the flop brought plenty of action, coming {10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Yi was looking for a jack or a queen, but he wouldn't get it, as the board completed {7-Clubs} and {6-Spades}.

After collecting that knockout, Ziyard's stack increased to 650,000.

Joel Tushnet Eliminated in 17th Place ($15,586)

Joel Tushnet
Joel Tushnet

Joel Tushnet open shoved all in from under the gun for his last 104,000, and it folded around to Arshin Gamini on the button. He moved all in over the top for more, and the blinds folded.

Gamini: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Tushnet: {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}

Before opening up his hand, Tushnet admitted "I only looked at one card." Well he was hoping to pair that one card, but it never happened, as the board ran down {3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, giving Gamini the first bounty of the day, upping his stack to 480,000 in the process.

"Are You Alive?"

Nível 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

It's been mostly preflop action at table 447 with raise, folds or raise, three bet, folds.

In one hand Travell Thomas opened to 34,000. Action folded to Robert Brewer in late position who three bet to 76,000.

When action folded back to Thomas he looked as if he was in a tough spot.

"Do you got anything good?" He asked Brewer. "If I fold will you show? Are you alive?"

Brewer kept on his best poker face for the entire interrogation. Eventually Thomas folded what he said was {9-}{9-}, but never got any extra information out of Brewer.

Antico Likes the Queens

Nível 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Action started with Gareth Teatum raising in early position to 36,000, and Anthony Antico was the lone caller. The flop came down {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, and Teatum fired out a continuation bet of 56,000. Antico took just a few moments before cutting out the chips for the call, and sticking them into the middle. The turn was the {q-Spades}, and both players checked. The river brought the {j-Spades}, and Teatum checked to Antico, who bet out 80,000. Teatum spent about 90 seconds in the tank before kicking his hand in, and Antico showed the table {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} for trip queens.

After that hand, Antico is up to 490,000, while Teatum dropped to 204,000.

Moshin Charania Near the Top with 17 Left

Mohsin Charania
Mohsin Charania

After two full days of poker, 1731 players have been whittled down to just 17. One of those 17 will walk away tonight with a WSOP gold bracelet, and $432,411. The player who has put himself in the best position to do that is Salvatore Dicarlo, who won a huge race on the last hand of Day 2 to take the chip lead . He will come in with 984,000, but he has some close competition at the top.

Paul Splitzberg rode a wave of big pots towards the end of the night on his way to bagging up 957,000. He will be second coming into today. In third is none other than Moshin Charania, who won the EPT Grand Final in 2012. He was one of our biggest stacks the entire yesterday, and comes into play today with 940,000.

These three will be joined by other notables Zimnan Ziyard (461,000), Travell Thomas (254,000), Jacob Schindler (269,000), and nine other players who hope to soon be mentioned in the future as one of the notables after today.

Play will be kicking off at 1 PM. Once we get down to our final nine, we will be providing hand-for-hand updates. Thanks as always for tuning in with us, and don’t go anywhere. The excitement is just about to begin!

While we are waiting for this event to start, check out Sarah Grant's update on all the other action at the Rio yesterday!
