The field might be small on Day 1a, but we've already spotted many champions from all over the world. Valdemar Kwaysser from Hungary won one of the biggest tournaments ever by a Hungarian during the 2010 World Series of Poker, when he took down the $10,000 pot-limit hold'em event for $617,214.
In total Kwaysser has $1.4 million in live tournament earnings, and that puts him fifth on the Hungarian all-time money list.
Michael Wang from the United States is having a breakout year on the live tournament circuit with 34 live cashes and his first World Series of Poker bracelet. Wang defeated a field of 422 in the $5,000 no-limit hold'em event for $466,120. Wang beat Bryn Kenney heads up, at a final table that also included Greg Merson and Jason Wheeler.
Earlier this year Wang also missed out on the WPT Legends of Poker final table when he finished seventh for $70,604, and the event was ultimately won by Mike Shariati for $675,942.
Today Wang's trying his best at WPT Prague, and it's safe to say that it wouldn't be a surprise if he made another deep run.
French Canadian pro Yann Dion, who battled it out in WPT Montreal two weeks ago, made his way to the Czech Republic for this event. Dion's biggest live tournament result dates back to January 2013, when he finished seventh in the PCA Main Event for $230,000.
Dion also has an Aussie Million Main Event final table under his belt, and a 66th place finish in the 2013 WSOP Main Event.
As we are used to when covering big poker tournaments, the first level usually a quiet affair. Today however, we've already spotted Dylan Linde and Stephen Chidwick lingering around the tournament area. Chidwick and Linde didn't miss a single hand of play, and they'll be looking to accumulate chips in order to secure a day off to explore the city tomorrow on Day 1b.

Alex Goulder After Winning Last Year's WPTN Prague
The World Poker Tour has made its way to Prague after a sizzling event in Montreal, and today the Main Event of this tournament series will kick off. The WPT Prague poker festival started on Sunday with the Warm Up event, which concluded last night, and all throughout the week side events are running as well. The side event schedule can be found right here.
The Main Event will have two starting days after which the remaining players will combine on Thursday December 3rd for Day 2. In total this event will last until Sunday, when the final table will be played. This tournament has a buy-in of €3,000+€300 and one re-entry per day is possible until the start of Day 2.
This year's WPT Prague event will mark the fifth straight edition of the poker spectacle at the Corinthia hotel's Kings Casino, and it's looking to be another very successful one. Last year, when this tournament was part of the WPT National series, Alex Goulder came out on top, taking home €105,000 after beating a field of 251 players.
