Starting Flights Wrap Up; Mathieu Papineau Finishes Day as Overall Chip Leader

Day 1c/d of the €500 (5,500 Dirham) Winamax SISMIX Main Event, running at the Casino de Marrakech in the El Saadi Resort, has now concluded.

With all four starting flights now wrapped up, the numbers are in. There were a total of 1,900 entrants, making for a total prize pool of 10,450,00 dirham, around €950,000 euros. A total of 319 players have made it through to Day 2 and into the money..

Mathieu Papineau finished the day as chip leader with 1,202,500. That makes Papineau the overall chip leader across all starting flights.

In second place was Maxence Vié with 1,041,500 chips. In third was [Removed:445] with 906,500 chips.

In fourth was French poker pro Guillaume Darcourt with 904,000. According to Hendon Mob, Darcourt has over $1,500,000 in live tournament winnings. He's also a regular winner at the Moroccan Poker Open, final tabling several events and winning the Deepstack in 2023.

Jean Salaun rounds out the top five players for Day 1c. Winamax Pro Mehdi Chaoui finished in sixth place with 736,000 chips.

It was a long bubble. There were several all in and calls with short stacks finding their luck and doubling up to remain in the game.

In one such hand, Badr Oubja put the rest of his stack in the middle from the small blind, 19,500 chips. Mehdi Chaoui called in the big blind and players flipped their cards.

Oubja had woken up with pocket kings in the perfect moment for him. The rest of the room screamed out for sixes to come. The board ran out 92675. Oubja's kings held and he doubled up.


The next hand, over on another table, Action was on the flop on a board of 977. Fathi Guizani moved all in with a short stack and Amer Benmoumen called for a few chips more.

Guizani showed K9 for a pair of nines. Benmoumen showed 106 for a backdoor straight draw.

The turn came the 2 and the river was the 6. Benmoumen paired up with his sixes, but Guizani held to double up.

Unfortunately for him, the bluff was mistimed and Berrak clearly wasn't folding. He now moves up to around 250,000 chips, making him one of the chip leaders as Day 1c progresses.
