Romero Up and Running on Day 1a

Nível 8 : 300/700, 700 ante
Alejandro Romero
Alejandro Romero

The next Winamax Team pro in the field is Spain's Alejandro Romero, who made a deep run recently in the EPT Monte Carlo €5,300 Main Event in which he finished ninth for a payday of €69,990.

Romero had already chipped up and was then involved in a heads-up pot with a late entry as they headed to the {a-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts} turn. Out of the big blind, the Spaniard bet 4,000 into a pot of 9,000 and his opponent from under the gun folded.

Ortega Eliminated by Sanchez Pena

Nível 8 : 300/700, 700 ante

The cards of David Higuera Ortega were just mucked as he left the seat. Table chat in Spanish indicated that he was all-in with a straight draw on the {8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} turn against the {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} of Victor Sanchez Pena and the {k-Diamonds} river was a brick.

Berglin Paces Further Ahead After Busting Oberhauser

Nível 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Dennis Berglin
Dennis Berglin

Only 8,000 were in the middle to the {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} river on which Valentin Oberhauser checked. Dennis Berglin bet 6,000 on the button and Oberhauser then pushed for more than 55,000. After nearly a minute, Berglin called and Oberhauser turned over {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for just the top pair, which Berglin had beat with {k-Spades}{8-Clubs} for two pair.

Molina Loses a Bigger Chunk to Creutz

Nível 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

A small bet of just 3,500 by Ignacio Molina on the {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} river triggered the raise to 24,000 by Johan Creutz. The call by the Spaniard for essentially half his remaining stack followed and Creutz tabled the {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for tens full of aces.

While Molina is down in chips, Pierre Calamusa has already nearly doubled.

Berglin Among the Chip Leaders

Nível 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Among the biggest stacks in the room is a trio in the middle section of the tournament area on almost neighbouring tables. Dennis Berglin has emerged as one of them and just lost a very minor pot. He defended the big blind against a min-raise to 1,200 and then checked the {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop. His opponent bet 1,900 and Berglin quickly folded.

The other big stacks belong to Hugues Mazerolle and Hugo Legrand.

Verlomme Chops With Garbarino

Nível 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Following the heads-up turn of {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, Pierre Garbarino check-raised from 3,500 to 9,000 and Audrey Verlomme called. The {j-Hearts} on the river slowed down both players and they checked. Garbarino tabled the {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and chopped, as Verlomme had the equally strong {q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Winamax Pro and Former Champion Calamusa Enters the Fray

Nível 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Shortly after the blinds had gone up, Winamax Pro Pierre Calamusa sat down with a fresh stack and made table 98 even more interesting, as it also features Andris Reseveskis and Ignacio Molina.

Calamusa is the first former WPO Main Event champion to enter the tournament and already made a deep run in a Side Event last night when he was still in contention with three players remaining. The same applied for Resevskis, who narrowly missed the final table and finished in 11th place in Event #1 €150 Colossus Knockout.

Creutz Among the Early Big Stacks

Nível 6 : 250/500, 500 ante

Ignacio Molina ran up a quick profit after he joined the field and called a raise to 1,300 by Johan Creutz, as did Andris Resevskis. They headed to the {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop on which it checked to Creutz, who bet 3,100 and earned two quick folds.

Creutz has more than doubled up his stack already while Resevskis is also up by a significant margin.
