Full Tilt Poker UKIPT Galway Main Event Day 3: Alan Gold Leads the Final Table

Nível 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Alan Gold
Alan Gold

There were 51 players who returned for Day 3 of the Main Event and we were set to play down to the final eight who would come back tomorrow for the chance to be crowned Galway UKIPT Champion and take away a first prize of €205,600.

Alan Gold is the chip leader going into the final table with 4,050,000. He was consistently at the top of the leader board and used his stack to play aggressively and constantly apply pressure to shorter stacks looking to ladder up.

Meanwhile it was Max Silver who fell at the final hurdle; he was eliminated in 9th place and just missed out on his fourth UKIPT final table.

Tim Michels, a German PokerStars qualifier, began the day as chip leader with 835,000. Other notable names included Irish legend Padraig Parkinson, Dale Philip a PokerStars Team Online pro, and Max Silver.

All of the players had made the money but they also had dreams of making it through to the final table and a chance to lift the coveted trophy.

As well as the prize money up for grabs, there was a Last Longer Sponsorship Promotion for those players who had qualified through Full Tilt. Ten players started in contention today and the last one standing would receive a prize package including buy-ins and expenses to every remaining stop on the UKIPT Season 4 tour. Of the ten Full Tilt qualifiers who started the day, three have made it to the final table: Daragh Davey, Alan Gold and Damian Porebski.

The day started pretty quickly with the short stacks looking for a spot to get their chips in and double up. In less than fifteen minutes the first player out was Mikos Soproni, one of the Full Tilt qualifiers, from Hungary. He had already got one shove through, but when he made his next all-in with {a-Hearts}{5-Spades} he ran into the {a-Spades}{j-Spades} of Andrew Dwyer and got no help on a {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} board.

Soon after that David Parkinson hit the rail with and ill-timed four-bet shove with {a-Spades}{2-Spades} into Raul Paez’s {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} was the final board. Parkinson exited the tournament fairly early holding {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades} on a flop of {a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. Unfortunately his opponent, Christopher Morkan, just out kicked him with his {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}. The last two cards {9-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} were no help to him.

Spain's Paez went on to make the final 11 but would go no further. A controversial figure throughout the three days, he had a habit of taking a longer time than many others to come to a decision; in fact, he was the only player to have the clock called on him today. It happened twice and both times it was Silver who decided enough was enough. The second time Silver felt moved to tell him, "Five minutes. There's no reason. If you're going to call, then call. You're wasting time." Paez would eventually fall on the feature table when he four-bet all-in with {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} into the {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} of chip leader at the time, Paul Feber. The {j-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Clubs} board sent Paez away with €10,670 for his troubles.

When down to the unofficial final table of nine, Davey was lucky to survive when his three-bet all-in with {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} was called by the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} of Febers. The cards fell {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Davey hit his two-outer on the river to keep the dream alive. From there it fell to Silver to become the bubble boy when he got it all in pre-flop with {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Ironically it was Davey who delivered the killer blow holding {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}. The cards ran out {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Spades} and there was to be no two-outer for Silver.

The final eight players will return at Noon local time on Monday to play down to a winner. Join the PokerNews Live Reporting Team then for all the action and eliminations on the way to crowning a FTP UKIPT Galway champion.

It's been a roller coaster of a day for former UKIPT winner Max Silver. He was almost out a couple of hours ago before he spun his short stack into 2 million chips. But now they're all gone after he lost a huge hand to Daragh Davey, all in preflop.

Silver: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Davey: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

The board came {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Spades} - no help to either player and Silver was knocked out on the final table bubble. He shook everyone's hand and wished them all good luck.

And with that, we are done for the night.

Davey Finds Two Outer on the River to Stay Alive

Nível 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

The final table was one card away from being set, but then Daragh Davey somehow managed to spiked a two outer on the river to keep his tournament hope alive.

It happened after Paul Febers opened for 80,000 and then snap-called Davey's shove of 1.135 million from the big blind.

Febers: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Davey: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Febers had woken up with pocket rockets and had Davey drawing slim. The {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop meant Davey could only stay alive if he caught one of the two remaining nine, and while he didn't on the {K-Hearts} turn, he did on the {9-Clubs} river.

Peter Murphy Eliminated in 10th Place (€13,100)

Peter Murphy - 10th Place
Peter Murphy - 10th Place

Over at the feature table, action folded to a short-stacked Peter Murphy in the small blind and he moved all in for 470,000. Alan Gold was in the big blind, looked down at his cards and then called.

Murphy: {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Gold: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Murphy was in rough shape as he shared a seven with Gold. He needed a miracle of sorts to stay alive, but he wouldn't get it as the board ran out {q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{q-Clubs}.

Paez Eliminated in 11th (€10,670)

Raul Paez
Raul Paez

Raul Paez raised to 80,000 and Paul Febers Three-bet him to 175,000. Paez gave it a bit of a dwell, up as he had been doing for most of the tournament, before announcing all-in. Febers Instantly called and tabled his {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}. Paez was dismayed to come this far and run his {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} into the one hand he feared. He would need a miracle from the dealer.

The five cards ran out {j-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Clubs} and the last two kings stayed hidden in the deck to send Paez away from the feature table but €10,670 richer.

The action was passed around to Max Silver in the small blind and he promptly moved all in, Michels checked his cards and then quickly called.

Silver: {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Michels: {A-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The board came {5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts} with Silver spiking a pair of treys to knock out the German. Silver has gone from 375,000 to about 2 million in the space of half an hour. Not bad.

Michels' Turn to Double Through Silver

Nível 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Not long after Max Silver doubled through him, Tim Michels got a little revenge by getting a double of his own.

It happened when Michels moved all in under the gun and action folded to Silver in the big blind. He didn't seem too excited to make the call, but he did so nonetheless.

Michels: {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Silver: {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Silver was drawing to two live cards, but little good it did him as the board ran out an uninspiring {q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{q-Spades}{10-Clubs}.
