Jorge Teodoulou Leads at the End of Day 1b of the PokerStars Festival Chile Main Event!

The two opening flights of the PokerStars Festival Chile $500,000 guaranteed Main Event have come to a close. Argentina's Jorge Teodoulou leads at the end of this second flight, bagging a total of 247,700 chips. His finish today makes him the overall chip leader going into Day 2 tomorrow!

Juan Sebastian Gomez is close behind with 237,700 chips, and Joaquin Earcena rounds out the top three stacks with 154,200 after a strong push towards the end of the day. The official number of entries today was 190, with 66 players moving on to Day 2 tomorrow. Both starting flights made a combined 329 entries, keeping the prizepool at an even $500,000. The final numbers will be confirmed overnight and payouts will be posted tomorrow.

Team PokerStars Pro, Leo Fernandez, has fired a few bullets in this event, but managed to bag a healthy stack of 152,900 going into the day tomorrow. He took down the High Roller event just yesterday, and is in the hunt for back-to-back titles to add to his decorated resume with over $2 million in earnings.

Some of the other notable players who found a bag today included Javier Swett (60,500), Joaquin Earcena (154,200), Jorge Postigo (36,700), Roberto Andres Finkelberg (39,500), Sanjay Sahijwani (76,500), and Amos Ben (82,900).

The day began with about 30 players, and quickly grew as play went on. Fabian Chauriye sat down early on, with the hopes of finally winning a championship in his home country after finishing as runner-up last year, but he had a visibly frustrating day and was eliminated late in the day. Two-time LAPT champion and high roller, Oscar Alache, fired at least two bullets on each starting day, but was unable to find a bag. As is his demeanor, he still left the tournament area with a smile on his face and will most certainly take a shot at the next series.

Chip leader, Teodoulou, got off to a hot start early in the day, and eventually built himself a mountain of chips. He was battling with table mate Ezequiel Waigel and got him to put it in with a draw against his two pair. The river bricked out, and Teodoulou eliminated him to pull himself away from the rest of the pack.

Crishtofer Cancino was another highlight of the day. He may have only bagged 47,000 in chips, but he kept the entire room entertained by yelling, "Vamooooooo!" every time he won a pot. He found himself short several times but found a double up whenever he needed it. Fist pumps and happy exclamations are sure to be going around while he remains in this tournament.

Day 2 begins tomorrow at noon, and with registration closed, the action is going to get to a whole new level. A little more than a hundred players will move on, and play will conlcude tomorrow either at the end of ten levels or once 24 players remain. Day 3 will resume on Friday at noon and will play down to the final eight, with Day 4 firing up on Saturday at noon to play down to a winner.

Keep following along as PokerNews continues to post all of the live updates on the way to finding a champion.

Two More Hands

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The tournament director has announced that there will be two more hands before players bag their chips for the end of the night.

A full recap will be posted soon, and the table draw will follow once the tournament staff has confirmed.

Big Pot for Jose Martinoli

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Leandro Schmidt was under the gun and raised to 2,600. Jose Martinoli was on his immediate left in early position and three-bet up to 6,200. Schmidt reached back for a large stack of chips and four-bet to 17,400. Martinoli called.

The flop was {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and both players checked to the turn, which was the {6-Hearts}.

Schmidt led out for 11,500 and Martinoli called.

The river was the {8-Hearts}. Schmidt checked, and Martinoli fired out a bet of 19,500. Schmidt mucked his hand, sending Martinoli a nice pot.

Cancino Can't Contain His Excitement!

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

A player in middle position raised to 2,700 and Wladimir Tanifeco called from the small blind.

Christofer Cancino was in the big blind and moved all in for about 45,000. The middle-position player called for less, with about 14,000 in front of him. Tanifeco thought for a moment but eventually folded.

"Vamooooooo!" yelled Cancino, as he tabled {k-Spades}{q-Spades}. His opponent revealed {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, and frustratingly moved his chips in the middle after seeing he was dominated.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Cancino continued to yell, "Vamoooooo!" over and over again.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, and the river was the {10-Hearts}, sending the pot to Cancino. "Sorry papi", said Cancino as his opponent left the tournament area.

Andres Vega Finds Some Life

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Andres Vega has been grinding a short stack for several levels, and finally moved his remaining 11,400 chips in the middle from early position.

The player in the big blind called, and Vega tabled {q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, while his opponent showed {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. He wasn't very far behind, but needed to hit to stay alive.

The flop came {9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Vega made a pair of nines. The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and the river was the {6-Diamonds}, launching Vega back above a starting stack.

"Vamoooooooo!"

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The player under the gun raised to 2,400, and the player in the hijack called.

Christofer Cancino was on the button and jammed all in for about 20,000. The under-the-gun player went into the tank and eventually moved all in over top for 30,000. The hijack folded.

Cancino tabled {a-Spades}{q-Spades}, and when his opponent revealed {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for a classic race, he clapped his hands together and yelled, "Vamooooo!"

The flop came {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}, and Cancino picked up outs to make a flush along with his two over cards.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds}, and the river was the {a-Clubs}. Cancino caught one of the cards he needed and made several fist pumps while continually yelling, "Vamoooooooo!"

Cancino got the double up he was looking for, leaving his opponent with about five big blinds.

Rodrigo Zambra Wins a Much Needed Flip

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Action folded to a player in late position and he pushed all in for 16,500. Rodrigo Zambra called from the cutoff for his remaining 15,700.

Zambra showed {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} and his opponent tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and Zambra's full house was good to take down the pot, leaving his opponent with just 800 in chips.
In the very next hand Zambra eliminated that same opponent.
