Day 4 Table Draw PokerStars Championship Panama

Can Tito Ortiz spin it back up?
Can Tito Ortiz spin it back up?

Day 4 of the PokerStars Championship Panama Main Event gets underway in a little over an hour. Just 30 players remain, all guaranteed $12,480 at this point, but all have their eyes on the first-place prize of $293,860. That prize won't be distributed for three more days, though, today the plan is to play down to 16 or 4 levels of 90 minutes each.

It's James Salmon from the United States starting with the lead, bringing 1,020,000 in chips to the table. He has a very healthy lead over the rest of the field, his nearest competitor is Robin Luca Wozniczek from Germany who'll start the day with 658,000.

Shortest stack coming in is Samuel Gagnon from Canada who bagged 93,000 last night. Tito Ortiz, the UFC Hall of Famer and PokerStars Friend is still in as well, though short with 117,000.

Play gets underway at noon, with blinds at 4,000/8,000 and a 1,000 ante. PokerNews will once again be your one-stop shp for all the updates from the PokerStars Championship Panama Main Event!

Ortiz Loses Half His Stack

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

From the hijack, Tito Ortiz raised to 25,000. Small blind Robin Luca Wozniczek three-bet to 62,000 and the big blind folded. Ortiz, enjoying a massage, thought it over for a bit before he called.

The flop came {2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Wozniczek tossed in 100,000 , enough to put Ortiz all in. Ortiz thought about it for just a bit before he released his hand into the muck.

One for Igor Yaroshevskyy

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Igor Yaroshevskyy opened with a raise from the cutoff and Jonathan Abdellatif defended the big blind to see a {q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop. Abdellatif check-called a bet of 13,000 and then both players checked the {8-Clubs} turn.

When the {6-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Abdellatif checked and then folded after Yaroshevskyy bet 27,000.

Wheel Him Out

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Jason Wheeler opened for a raise in the cutoff, and Arunas Sapitavicius made it 51,000 on the button. Wheeler shoved all in and got an immediate call. The two were racing:

Sapitavicius: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Wheeler: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Wheeler's eights held strong on the {2-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop, but the {a-Clubs} turn sent him packing when he was unable to hit on the {j-Spades} river.

Flush Over Flush

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Jessica Perez Borrego opened the button and both small blind Vasyl Vertianov and big blind Byron Kaverman called. The blinds checked on {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} and Borrego bet 28,000. Vertianov check-raised to 58,000 and Kaverman asked for a count before he called, Borrego folded.

Vertianov checked on the {3-Diamonds} turn and called the 86,000 bet by Kaverman.

The {3-Hearts} on the river saw both players check and Vertianov tabled {10-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. Kaverman showed {J-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and took down the pot.

Alexandre Viard Getting Shorter

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Jonathan Abdellatif opened for 18,000 under the gun and Kenny Smaron called from the hijack. Alexandre Viard came along from the big blind and three players saw a flop of {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{6-Spades}.

Action checked to Smaron and he bet 29,000, which only Viard called. Viard then checked the {3-Hearts} turn and folded when Smaron fired out 45,000.

Koon Runs into the Blades

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

Jason Koon opened on the button for 18,000, and Anthony Diotte put in a three-bet in the big blind. The next time we looked over, Koon was all in and in dire need of help.

Koon: {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Diotte: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

"Anyone fold a five?" Koon asked hopefully.

Nobody responded, and the flop came down {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. Koon liked the {8-Diamonds} turn, since it gave him outs to a chop, but the river was a {j-Spades}. Koon stared at his opponent's stack to see if he could cover it. Diotte said he had about 450,000 to start, and Koon looked to have around 400,000, so he wished everyone good luck.

Tito Triples, Still in Trouble

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Tito Ortiz shoved from the hijack for 34,000 total. As his neighbor was contemplating a call, Ortiz started to talk a little bit, stating it wasn't all that much to call.

The floor informed him that he was only to talk when the pot got to heads up, and Ortiz apologized with a big smile.

Eventually, the cutoff folded but small blind Robin Wozniczek and big blind Jessica Perez Borrego did call.

The two blinds checked down the board of {A-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Ortiz asked if anyone had an ace. Wozniczek showed {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and Borrego tabled {7-Spades}{9-Spades}. Ortiz revealed his {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and tripled up.

"All in with a massage!" Ortiz exclaimed as he collected the chips.
