De Melo Wins a Race

Nível 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

Fatima Moreira de Melo put a short-stacked player at risk preflop for about 6,000 with {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} against {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. Her opponent got up from his seat after {4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flopped, cutting his outs down, and no help emerged on the turn or river.

William Kassouf
William Kassouf

William Kassouf, 2016 EPT Prague High Roller Champion, has entered the field and has jumped right in to the action.

Action folded around to the cutoff who raised to 675. Kassouf was on the button and called, as did the small and big blinds.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{9-Spades}. The small and big blinds checked, as did the cutoff. Kassouf reached into his stack and announced a bet of 1,950. The small blind snap-called, and the big blind and cutoff both folded.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds}. The small blind checked, and Kassouf stayed silent before checking back.

The river was the {3-Clubs}. The small blind checked yet again, and Kassouf immediately turned to him and asked, "You have one pair?" His opponent didn't answer, and after a few seconds he said, "Okay, if you got it you got it" and tossed out a bet of 5,050. The small blind basically beat Kassouf into the pot, but to his disappointment Kassouf tabled {k-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the second nut flush. He shook his head and paid the bet off, sending the chips Kassouf's way.

Chino Rheem bet 1,675 from the big blind on a board of {6-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}, and Aaron Paul made it 4,000 to go in the cutoff. Rheem came back with 10,000, and Paul peeled to see the {6-Spades} river. Rheem shoved all in for about 11,000 and got snap-called.

"You got fives full?" Rheem asked.

Instead, it was queens full as the famed actor showed {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. The dealer indicated Rheem had to show, per tournament rules.

"Why?" Rheem asked. "He fucked me."

The three-time World Poker Tour champ flashed what looked like {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a straight that had been crushed on the river and then grabbed his belongings.

With 4,100 in the pot and a flop of {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, Aaron Paul bet 1,200 from the big blind and Brazil's Joao Alberto Barreto raised the minimum to 2,400. Paul called and then checked the {9-Hearts} on the turn.

Barreto bet 3,200, Paul check-raised to 6,500, and Barreto called to see the {2-Clubs} river. Paul downsized to 6,000 and Barreto quickly called with the {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Paul then showed his own ladies with the {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

"Well played my friend," said Paul. "That's hilarious. We were both so happy."

Chop it up!
