Day 2 of the $1,100 Brazilian Series of Poker(BSOP) Bahamas Main Event has come to an end at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and Sriharsha Doddapaneni leads a field of 37 surviving players into the Day 3 finale.

The tournament drew 460 entries to generate a prize pool of $466,200, and a massive Day 2 saw 304 runners play down to the final 37. Tuesday’s returning players are all guaranteed at least $2,350, while $86,650 waits up top for the winner. Players will return at 1 p.m. local time to play down to a winner.

Doddapaneni bagged a sizable lead with a stack of 1,087,000 after he went on a big run in the late levels. Christian Rudolph trailed in second with 974,000, while Maria Konnikova finished with 773,000 in third. Elliot Smith and Allan Barnes rounded out the top five with 648,000 and 622,000, respectively.

The other big stacks from the top ten include Paul Dewald, Steven Fandozzi, Brunno Botteon, Ludovic Geilich, and Micha Hoedemaker.

Day 2 Action

A tough field filled with notable players turned out for the event but several could not find their way to Day 2, including Benny Glaser, Harry Lodge, Chino Rheem, Julien Martini, Keith Lehr, Jason Wheeler, Gianluca Speranza, Ryan Riess and PokerStars Ambassador Fintan Hand.

Fellow PokerStars Ambassador Benjamin “Spraggy” Spragg was active throughout the day and he found his way into the money, but he couldn’t survive to see Day 2. Spragg has now cashed at five straight major PokerStars events, including every EPT dating back to the most recent trip to Monte Carlo.

Andrew Chen got off to a hot start on Monday when he found a full double with pocket kings against the Big Slick of Adrian State. Chen previously won the NAPT Bounty Shootout at the 2011 PCA, as well as a $2,150 event at EPT Sanremo and the $10,300 High Roller at EPT London, both in 2014. He finished with 200,000 and he will return on Tuesday for a shot at his first big score since 2018.

Konnikova held strong throughout the day, but her big move came in the late levels when she cracked Daniel De Sousa Custodio's pocket queens for a big double when her suited eight-seven made a flush on the river. She won this tournament in 2018, and she will return on Tuesday with a real chance to do it again.

Among the other players returning for Day 2 are Martin Johnstone, Sebastian Toro, Jose Severino, Jonathan Little, Andras Nemeth, Shawn Buchanan, and Iliodoros Kamatakis.

Sanz Puts The Pressure On Anderson

Nível 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Guillermo Sanz
Guillermo Sanz

Blake Anderson opened to 16,000 from under the gun and it folded around to Guillermo Sanz who made the call in the cutoff.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Anderson continued for 15,000, which Sanz called. On the {2-Hearts} turn Anderson bet again, this time to 25,000. Sanz took a moment before tossing in five blue chips for a call.

The {k-Spades} completed the board and Anderson kept up the aggression with a bet of 45,000. Sanz pondered for a few seconds before sliding in a raise to 145,000. Anderson quickly let his hand go and the pot was sent to the PokerStars Ambassador.

Dewald's Big Slick Sends Torre To The Exit

Nível 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Giovani Torre moved all in from early position for 96,000 and it folded around to Paul Dewald in the small blind who shoved over the top. The big blind quickly folded and the cards were tabled.

Giovani Torre: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Paul Dewald: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and the ace-king for Dewald made the nut flush to send Torre to the exit in 45th place.

Konnikova Scores Massive Double Up

Nível 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Maria Konnikova
Maria Konnikova

The action was picked up in a pot of 42,000 on a flop showing {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. Daniel De Sousa Custodio bet out 30,000 from the cutoff and Maria Konnikova moved all in for 169,000 next to act. Custodio took a few seconds before making the call and the cards were on their backs.

Maria Konnikova: {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Daniel De Sousa Custodio: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

It was virtually a coin flip between the queens for Custodio and the open-ended straight draw and flush draw for Konnikova. The turn came the {2-Clubs} and the river fell the {4-Diamonds}, giving Konnikova a flush and a massive double up late into Day 2.
