The Las Vegas Moneymakers are dead last in the Americas conference at the moment. They scored 97 points so far. The gap with a playoff spot is 26 points.
So Jake Cody needs to score a lot of points to keep the Moneymakers in a contest for those playoffs. So far, Cody hasn't scored very well in the Global Poker League heads-up battles. He won one heat against Jason Wheeler, scoring three points, and got swiped by Mustapha Kanit.
His opponent Jonathan Jaffe also has a negative balance. The San Francisco Rush player won twice but lost three times. He defeated Dzmitry Urbanovich and Pascal Lefrançois, winning 2-1.
He managed to win one heat against Sorel Mizzi and Thiago Nishijima and scored no points in his match against Bryn Kenney.
The Rush are in fifth place in the Americas conference and also need a clean sweep to stay in the race for the playoffs.
The first heat of the last match of this week's Global Poker League is underway!

In the 2011 World Series of Poker, Jaffe played Cody in the $25,000 Heads-up Event. He only needed one sentence to describe that final eight battle: "I got smoked in that match."
Cody went to go on and win that tournament.
