Following the successful return of the North American Poker Tour (NAPT) in Las Vegas last year, PokerStars announced in May that the NAPT will return to Resorts World, Las Vegas, this November for another ten-day poker extravaganza.
The series is highlighted by the NAPT Las Vegas Main Event, which has a $5,300 buy-in. Last year's champion, Sami Bechahed, topped the 1,095-entry field and took home a substantial $268,945.
For those who missed out last year or looking to have a second bite of the cherry, you'll be pleased to know that you can secure your seat in the Main Event for a fraction of the buy-in.
Alec Torelli opened from under the gun and received calls from Aram Zobian on the button and Jiaming Zhao from the big blind.
On the 9♦8♣3♥ flop, the action checked to Zobian who bet 600 and only Zhao called.
The turn brought the 9♠. Zobian sized up to 2,700 but Zhao stuck around.
The 8♠ came on the river. Zhao opted to lead for 9,500, and Zobian responded with a raise to 22,200.
In a moment of confusion, Zhao tabled his 4♦3♠ as he was unaware that Zobian had raised. In good sportsmanship, Zobian asserted that Zhao was clearly going to fold and scooped the pot without showdown but he claimed he had a nine.
Grzegorz Kozieja raised to 700 in the hijack, Gonzalo Gottlieb three-bet to 2,200 on the button, and Kozieja called.
Gottlieb continued for 2,500 on the K♥5♥6♣ flop and Kozieja called. Both players then checked the 3♦ turn.
The river was the A♠ and Gottlieb bet 4,000. Kozieja then announced a raise to 25,000 and Gottlieb didn't even wait for the chips to be put in the middle before folding.
Victoria Livschitz was under the gun as she and Vladimir Korzinin in the hijack got all their chips in the middle before the flop.
Victoria Livschitz: K♣K♦
Vladimir Korzinin: 6♠6♣
The flop came A♠A♦4♣, while the K♠ turn gave Livschitz a full house and left Korzinin drawing dead by the J♦ river. He reached across the table to shake Livschitz's hand and prepared to make his exit, but a count of the chips showed he had Livschitz's 34,500 covered by 2,500.
"I was hoping you had ace-king," he said, laughing off the beat.

John Juanda opened to 500 from the cutoff, Shakhabiddin Muradov three-bet to 1,700 from the small blind and Juanda made the call.
The flop came 7♣7♠6♣ and Muradov fired a 2,000 continuation bet that was called by Juanda.
On the 2♠ turn Muradov bet 4,100 and was once again called by Juanda.
Muradov bet 10,000 on the J♠ river and this time it was enough to force a fold from his opponent.
With around 7,000 in the pot on a flop of 9♠6♣5♣, Jiaming Zhao bet 4,300 from the small blind and Aram Zobian called in the cutoff, while Quan Zhou folded the button.
Zhao checked the K♥ turn and Zobian bet 3,700. Zhao then raised to 11,700 and Zobian snap-folded.
