Final Starting Flight of FPS Main Event Kicks Off at Noon

The inaugural PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris stop at the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile continues today with Day 1c of the French Poker Series (FPS) €1,100 Main Event, which gets underway at 12 p.m. local time.

The survivors of today's flight will join the 179 survivors from Day 1a and 65 survivors from Day 1b, including France's Jean Labryga and the United States' Joey Weissman, who bagged the chip leads in their respective flights.

Other big stacks who advanced to Day 2 include French natives Steeve Sultan, Alan Ouegoasd and Damien Luis, Armenian Vardan Zakaryan and American Michael Rocco.

Some notables who will be in the Day 1c field include Gaelle Baumann, Alexandre Reard, Tom Vogelsang, Conor Beresford, Danut Chisu, Chris Da Silva, Nils Pudel and PokerStars Ambassador Ramon Colillas.

Following the same format as the previous two flights, Day 1c will kick off with blinds of 100/100/100 and will play for 14 levels lasting 40 minutes in duration. There will be a 20-minute break after Levels 3, 6, and 8, and players will take a 75-minute dinner break after Level 11.

With registration already closed for the event, prize pool information should be available early in the day.

Sicconi Doubles Through Reard

There was around 16,000 in the pot with the board on show. Alexandre Reard checked from the big blind before Alice Sicconi moved all in for 11,200 from the cutoff. Reard quickly called.

Walsh Three-Bets Chauskin

Natan Chauskin opened to 700 from the hijack and PokerStars ambassador and commentator Nicholas Walsh three-bet to 2,500 from the cutoff. Chauskin called when the action got back around.

No Sweat for Banic

Ivan Banic and Giorgio Bernasconi checked from early and middle positon respectively before Fangzhong Yang made it 3,600 from the hijack. Banic called before Bernasconi clicked it 12,500.

Yang called and then Banic jammed for 20,700. Bernasconi seemed displeased and folded while Yang called again.

Banic had the best of it with a set of eights but Yang had the nut flush draw. There was no need to sweat for Banic as the turn gave him quads and the checkmark. The inconsequential completed the board.

Walsh Doubles Up Through Galindo

Humberto Galindo raised to 1,200 preflop, Nicolas Plantin called in the cutoff, then Nick Walsh put in the reraise to 5,000 from the small blind.

Galindo asked Walsh how much he had behind and Walsh replied with, "I think I have around 20,000". Galindo made the call.

The flop came . Walsh led with a continuation bet of 5,000 and Galindo reshoved. Walsh was the player at risk as he quickly made the call.

Reard Puts Hananel into the Blender

Karim Jamil opened to 2,000 from middle position and was called by Alexandre Reard from the hijack. Brice Bourgeix and Jerome Hananel also called from the blinds.

Action checked to Reard on the flop, and he bet 3,700. Only the players in the blinds called.

The turn checked through to the river. Again, the action checked to Reard and he jammed for around 45,000.

Bourgeix quickly folded but Hananel went deep into the tank for several minutes. He had around 25,000 behind and toyed with his stack until he made the call.

Reard had the for ace-high. Hananel let out a deep sigh of relief and collected the pot after he tabled his for top pair.

Chaoui Triples Up; Busts Next Hand

Mehdi Chaoui moved all in for 5,600 from the cutoff and was called by Svetlana Aubakirova from the small blind. Aubakirova had around 15,000 left behind and Laurent Michot then put her all-in from the big blind. After a few moments, Aubakirova called off her stack.

Michot was on course for a double knockout following the flop and turn.

Chaoui then begged for an "ace on the river." His wishes were granted and he tripled up after the river hit the felt while Aubakirova was eliminated.

The very next hand, Chaoui moved all in with pocket sevens and was called by the pocket queens held by Johann Beaudet. He was unable to find a seven on the runout and busted.

As the hands took place, Ian Drake joined the table.
