A Welcome Message from the EPT President

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante
Edgar Stuchly

At each EPT stop there is a handy program with all the details of the stop. Also in that packet is a welcome message from EPT President Edgar Stuchly, which we thought we'd share with you here:

Welcome to the EPT Sanremo Poker Festival.

We're very excited to add Sanremo to a growing list of EPT stops which roll a national poker tour into a European Poker Tour event. The PokerStars Italian Poker Tour is one of the most popular national tours around and Luca Pagano's team have created a fascinating accumulator format that has been well received. The IPT Main Event allows you to play multiple Day 1's giving you the chance to build a monster Day 2 stack. And that €770 event is just one of 43 events during the twelve-day festival.

The EPT Sanremo Poker Festival leads directly into the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo Casino EPT Grand Final, which boasts a €10,600 Main Event, a €100,000 Super High Roller and of course the €1,100 France Poker Series Main Event. There are also plenty of events with price tags that measure in the hundreds, not thousands so do make the trip whatever your bankroll. There's a fifty-fifty fusion live satellite into the Monaco Main Event taking place April 19, or you can try to qualify online at EPT sponsors PokerStars for a fraction of the price.

I wish you success and a great time in Sanremo.

Frankland Catches an Early Show

Mathew Frankland from the UK is one of the players who were sat ready for action as the tournament began. He raised an early hand from the cut-off and an elderly gentleman on the button three-bet him. It folded back round to Frankland who mucked his cards.

His opponent showed {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and Frankland lost a few chips but banked the information.

First action on Day 1A

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

About ten minutes into Level 1 at blinds 50-100 we do see Rumen Nanev in action and the EPT Vienna finalist bets 5,500 into a pot of about 10,000 on the river {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} . His opponent eventually called after about half a minute of consideration and the Bulgarian turned over {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for two pair, which was good enough to rake in the chips.

Jannick Wrang tried the same with {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} on the river {3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{K-Spades} with a bet of 3,100 however one of the local guys made the call and turned over {K-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} for the better kicker.

Shuffle Up and Deal

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

The tournament got underway with the players being reminded that the EPT has so far had 97 champions and created 41 millionaires. There is a long way to go before we crown the next EPT champion and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed as more players file into the tournament room with numbers just reaching 100 as of a few minutes ago.

Prior to the EPT10 Sanremo Main Event, the Italian Poker Tour (IPT) kicked off their €700 buy-in Main Event, which attracted 1,124 players and created a prize pool of €763,196. That was to be distributed to the top 167 players, with €137,100 reserved for the eventual winner. That tournament is now down to the unofficial final table of nine.

Among those who cashed were Tam Truong (166th - €1,220), Max Pescatori (160th - €1,220), Sergio Aido (158th - €1,220), Marcin Horecki (150th - €1,220), Alex Kravchenko (135th - €1,345), Casey Kastle (129th - €1,345), Vitaly Lunkin (107th - €1,500), and Alessandro Basile (78th - €1,660), Andrea Dato (59th - €1,980), Kitty Kuo (34th - €2,800), Ben Yu (27th - €3,815), Pratik Ghatge (22nd - €4,550), and Franco Berlingieri (10th - €8,480).

UKIPT Marbella champion Ludovic Geilich, who won the Super Tuesday last week for a career best online cash of $101,325 and was fourth at EPT London, narrowly missed the final, finishing 11th for €8,480.

Leading the final nine is Marcello Miniucchi. All the remaining players, who will be back today at 12:30 p.m., are guaranteed at least €13,000 but it's the IPT6 Sanremo trophy and €137,100 first prize they have in their sights.

In addition to Miniucchi, who was runner-up at the IPT Saint Vincent Main Event last month, some other notables remain including APPT Cebu champion Jae Kyung Sim, 2012 Swedish Champion Alexander Norden, and WPT Venice runner-up Alex Longobardi. Fellow finalist Niccolo Ceccarelli has already won an event here at the EPT Sanremo Poker Festival when he beat a 75-strong field to take down the €200 NL Turbo (Unlimited RB/AO) for €8,620.

Here's a look at the unofficial final table of nine:
