Ibrahim Ghassan from Lebanon and Steven Watts rom the UK just played a huge pot. It all went in preflop and Watts was distraught to see his was up against the of his opponent. Watts had his opponent covered but Ghasssan had 45,425 behind. The board ran out and Ghassan doubled up to an just over 91k. A visibly upset Watts said he’d had kings last hand and had folded it as he knew he was beat the way the board came out . That time he didn’t have a chance to get away and his stack is massively dented.
Simon Deadman opened to what looked to be 700-800 preflop from the button before Toby Lewis three-bet to 2,500 in the small blind. Deadman made the call, one of the few times he is able to have position on his opponent on this table.

The Dutchman is still doing fine, with 55,000 he's playing well above average.
On the other end of the tournament room his friend Joep van den Bijgaart is playing. Van den Bijgaart, who made the EPT final table in Berlin the year Ben Wilinofsky won (seventh for €100,000), three bet a player with off suit. His opponent made the call and open shoved for about two and a half times the pot on with two clubs. Van den Bijgaart called with his top pair and was up against .
According to the PokerNews Poker Odds Calculator Van den Bijgaart was actually slightly behind with his top pair, but he managed to dodge his opponents outs and won the hand. Van den Bijgaart now plays 50,000.
Sofia Lovgren, a Swedish poker player, opened for 700 in late position and Norbert Szecsi, a live satellite qualifier from Hungary, in the small blind made it 2,025. The big blind folded and after a brief hesitation Lovgren made the call. They saw a flop of and Szecsi led for 2,525. Lovgren gave him the stare down through her sunglasses and raised to 5,100. It didn't take too long for him to give it up and Lovgren was pushed the pot.
Word has reached us that the EPT9 Deauville champion Remi Castaignon is out. A French blogger caught up with Castaignon after the event and got some details which he then passed on to us. On his exit hand Castaignon four-bet to 3,500 from a stack of 9,600 with pocket sevens out of the small blind. The original raiser folded, but the three-better made the call. The flop was Q-J-5 with two diamonds, Castaignon committed the rest of his chips and was actually in good shape against however his opponent made a flush to send him to the rail.

Right at the beginning of the day, as reported here, Mykhaylyuta had lost a couple of decent pots to Melki, and it seems as if they have been going at it all day. The two new friends saw a turn card and both checked. The river was the completing the flush draw and Mykhaylyuta checked. Melki now threw out a bet of 3,000. A long think for Mykhaylyuta eventually led him to release his hand.
It's often said that poker players have an over heightened sense of entitlement in many situations, but when you flop the nuts you kind of expect to win the pot fairly often, but Steve O'Dwyer just found out that it's not always the case.
The EPT9 Grand Final champion raised it up to 800 and was called by the cut-off and Nazim Guillaud (button). On the flop O'Dwyer bet 1,600 and Guillaud was the only caller. The hit the turn, O'Dwyer fired again, this time he bet 3,500 and again Guillaud smooth called.
On the river O'Dwyer slowed down, checking it over to Guillaud who bet 6,100. The Irishman didn't take very long to call, Guillaud showed for the flopped flush draw, turned set and rivered full-house, whilst O'Dwyer showed for the nut flush. "Wow," exclaimed another player at the table upon seeing the hands. After that cooler O'Dwyer is down to 12,200 whilst Guillaud is up to 62,000.
We may be live reporting the Main Event, but we also wanted to bring you results from the France Poker Series (FPS) £1,000 Main Event, which attracted 1,095 players.
Given it was a French series, it was no surprise to see the tournament dominated by Frenchman; in fact, seven of the eight finalists were playing in their home country with the two chip leaders. Christophe Leroux and Jean-Paul Vasseur from nearby towns Trouville and Louviers respectively. The one anomaly was the Netherlands’ Niels van Leeuwen.
As final table action wore on, Leroux ended up busting in fifth for €45,000, while Vasseur and Van Leeuwen made it all the way to heads-up play. Vasseur had homefield advantage and a massive rail to boot, but it wasn’t enough as Van Leeuwen emerged victorious to capture the €175,000 first-place prize.
